Meet at Willows?

Hi all,
I have been ruthlessly challenged to a track day at Willows by a C32. We have decided to make it a meet and have some fun with it. Any one else interested?

We are considering renting out the entire track for either half or whole day and it could happen within the next month?

Willows?

Are you referring to Willow Springs in Rosamond or is there another track called Willows near SD?

Was just up there for a bike event last week. (at Willow Springs)

Nah, you have the right track. He thinks it is close to me. LOL.

Keep voting. Is anyone interested in joining in and making it a meet?

I would be interested, but I think it will be difficult to find enough people to rent the track at a reasonable price. Might want to just go to and existing event such as:

speedventures.com
redlinetrackevents.com
speedtrialusa.com

There are usually a few C32's at these events. Also are we talking Streets of Willow or the Big Track?

well... the deal is that the loser pays for the track use, that's if I remember right. Check out the thread in the W211 forum.

Talking This should be fun...

I know Tommy @ speedtrialusa, however...regardless, at any of these events, you will not be able to setup runs just for 2 cars... They're not going to do that for you & you will have traffic to deal with in your run group. I used to run my modified 94 FD RX7 TT & loved running at BW and SOW.

There's also another group called TCRA...just go to Willow Springs website & their schedule is there.

If you are talking door to door racing/passing with drivers of unknown talent, then count me out. I thought you would just use lap timers like those available at these events and go with fastest times. I have always been able to run numerous laps without being held up, but there are obviouly times that you do.

I've run with guys through www.opentrackracing.com a couple of times, and it is a great way to go. They run about once every two months (Sept 21 and Nov 16 next ones), usually at the big Willow track. It is only around $150, includes lunch and track tips/driving lessons. Streets of Willow sucks with these big cars. If you got *****, really learn the track apexes and have good tires, you pretty much can pass anything out there. Not supposed to "race", but you can pass in controlled areas, and it is a blast. All kinds of cars show up and run in three different groups. Highly recommended for all.
p.s. all this talk about what car is quicker is BS. It is the driver and your knowledge of the track that get you around this track...or spin you out into the rocks!

Driver being equal (or the same driver for both cars), this is why SOWS is desired. It forces the chassis to work hard and uncover the limits of its design. Especially at this track, the C32 will be faster.

To be fair, why don't you ask this question in the C32/55 forum or email EvoSport and get their opinion on the subject and post their response.

BTW, if you are free this Friday, why don't you enroll in Speedventures track day at SOWS and bring your E55. I will be there with my C32 and 325is, both cars which will easily beat you around that course.

Its always fun to wake up at 4:30 am on a friday to go driving. Hope an E55 owner comes out and gives us a run for our money.

Most track days are on week days since the cost to rent the track on a weekend is nearly 50% more. Day off now and then never hurt anyone.

Dusting of my gloves, shoes, and brain bucket! Should be fun!
