subwoofer
Well , I finally got my JLA 10W7 sub and 500/1 amp installed and I think I over shot the mark. For everyone wanting to add a sub and keep their hearing, you prolly don't need more than 250 watts and one 10-12" sub. I had to turn it down to keep from shaking the interior to pieces. Trigger device on the speaker wire worked perfectly. Now I need to add a remote gain control in the front of the car. If anyone needs details I got the info.

Analog signals go to the subwoofer on the back deck. There is a dual coil sub there. I hooked one set to the inputs. The amp allows for high voltage inputs. This is the only way that it can be done due to the fact the all other connections are digital via fiberoptics.

So you're getting pretty decent bass in the cabin? Every installer I talk to complains they dont like working on M-B's because people are never satisfied with the bass.
Did you leave the stock subwoofer connected?
Does the bass totally overwhelm the stock mid/high speakers?

I left the stock subwoofer in place but may remove it someday. I'll have to research how to do it tho. It looks like the back seat and head restraints would have to come out to get the speaker out.

I have pretty much the same set up in my W210 although my car did not have the stock subwoofers. I tapped the signals from the rear speakers wires after the stock amp which I then feed into an Audio Control LC6. The LC6 knocks the high level inputs down and convert them into low level inputs which I then use to feed the 500/1(the LC6 has a 12V trigger wire which you can use to turn the amp on instead of relying on the signal sensing circuitry). I am running 2 10W7's in a bandpass box and I do have a manual bass knob which I use to vary the bass level depends on the type of music. The 2 10W7's are rear firing (they fire into the trunk instead of thru the fuel tank) so you FEEL the bass more so than hearing it. I love my set up and I thought the amount of bass I'm getting is just right.
