Went to the track last night ....

Went to moroso last night for some runs and I am not sure if I should be happy with my results or not, my car is stock as fas as engine work but I did have some heavy chrome 20" Maya Wheels running 275/30/20 in the rear.

1st pass was with traction control on and just full gas at light

60' 2.169
330 5.686
1/8 8.535
mph 86.66
1000 10.991
1/4 13.053
mph 109.91

2nd pass was with tc off and just floored it and happened to hook up pretty good

60' 2.022
330 5.497
1/8 8.344
mph 86.51
1000 10.804
1/4 12.868 (best pass of the night)
mph 109.63

Ran 2 more passes with a 1/4 time of 13.009 and 13.071

Should I be happy with these results ? It was a little humid last night temp was 83 degrees and I left the engine running the whole time with the A/C on while waiting so the car was running the whole time I got there 1st run was at 11:20 last run was at 1:32 and it still ran a consistent 13.

Should I be happy guys ??? Could somebody analyze these numbers for me ?? Thanks

Not too bad....I am not really sure how much 20's hurt your times, but you definitely had trouble off the line....not sure if you did this, but try rolling onto her off the line next time instead of stomping. Guys have had great results with that.

If that is what you were doing, perhaps heat soak on blower, or just to hot and humid or both. Should have been able to run near 12.5-12.7 all day long with the beast. Wonder how bad the 20's really hurt.....would love to do side by side.

Regardless, great job.

your 60' sucks you should be down around 1.7,8,9 or so thats were your losing time. work on your starts shallow stage then start rolling on late 2nd light w/ a hard roll on when 3rd yellow shines. esp off. also was pretty hot out you'll get better times in oct, nov

Your trap speed suggests that you're down about 30-40 HP. What's the altitude at your track?

Not sure it was Moroso in palm beach county

I think the loss of power is because of the weight of the wheels

Also there was an M3 newer body style with exhaust and pulley and was running high 13's and low 14's if that means anything about the humidity and temperature at the track. I think I am going to put drag radials on 2 of my stock rims and try again next time.

Sorry, anything above 12.5 sec just doesn't cut the mustard!
It's wrist-slashing time!

On a serious note, there aren't too many guys trying to drag on 20" wheels either. The tire wall is just too stiff and low.
Get some cheap 17" or 18" wheels (rears only and replicas will do, rear brake clearance is not a big issue at all) and two BF Goodrich DR's and you will do 12.1-12.5 sec 1/4 all day long. Cheer up!

I guess 275/35/18 is the max for your 9" wide rear stock wheels.
I forgot you had your stock wheels left over after your 20" upgrade. Just use those!

if you lived in florida and realize how much the heat and humidity affect your performance, much less the ****ty track conditions at moroso along with the improper rear tire size(275/30/20) and extra weight of chrome plating, cosm's best run of 12.86@109 is well within what stock e55 will run with those variables accounted for

by the way my car with 20" hre w/right size tires(285/25/20) in orlando during july only ran a 12.9 @110.however i've raced my friends zo6 that runs 12.4@114 on the street w/esp off where i can hook up night and day better than at the track and have beaten him from a dead stop 2 out of three times and everytime from a rolling start at any speed, numbers are just about your ego, they dont always tell the real story and really shouldn't be that important to anyone, but unfortunately to many they are .eventually most come to realize this at some point.you have an awesome vehicle in the e55 .just enjoy it, doesn't really matter if you run a 12.5 or a 12.8, in a couple of months when it cools down you'll be at 12.5 or better anyway.

Cosm I have 20 inch Brabus monoblock VI 285/25 and 245/30. I also ran my car at moroso but was only able to make one pass due to rain. (12.339 at 113.27) My suggestion to you is to go back and practice on your 60ft and your times will improve.

One more thing about your trap speed like rcb 55 mentioned, the humidity at palm beach during the summer is almost always at a 100%. According to my mini weather station the adjusted altitude was 1300 ft the night I ran. When it gets really hot and sticky I have seen as high as 2000 ft during the day.

PM me if you are interested in going again and we will meet up there.

I ran that night as well.

Your car looked good out on the track.

My times were SLOW too. Only 12.8 at 111 on motor and 12.1 at 117 on the juice.

I normally run 12.5 and 11.7. I have an Auto C6 so it is pretty consistent. My 60 foots are just a bit below 2.0.

My E55 ran a 117mph in April at Moroso! That thing was a monster!

So I guess the track was a little slow then, I think I am going to put some drag radials on my stock 18's and try again in a few weeks. Looking to get some Renntech upgrades too.

I would guess your altitude is close to sea level but the problem is heat and humidity. Try running your car as cool as possible. Turn off the AC and put ice on intakes while you're waiting around. Here is Lousiana when my car is cold it will run way quicker than when it's HOT.

Your 60' times indicate that you're not hooking up. Practice take offs from stop lights slowly accelerating rather than slamming it to the floor. This is the same way I have to launch my Vette, otherwise you'll just spin your wheels, even with traction control on.

A little flashy for my taste but, heavy or not, those wheels look nice!

Hey Cosm,

I live in Miami Beach PM me next time you are planning to go to Moroso. I have a 2005 E55 that is completely stock we can see if the wheels make a difference or not. I am also curious to see what my car can do.

Thanks
Paul

Here in Texas we have to figure in heat and dodging armadillos on the track. So sometimes our times seem a bit slow
