Why doesn't the CL55 or S55 Chirp or surge?

MBWorld Fanatic!
There is a TSB about the chirp/surge for our E55s, there will be a fixed released soon.
I know that doesn't answer your question, but it's relevant![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It appears there was a redesign on the clutch from IHI (company that supplies AMG with kompressors). You can tell the difference by width of the black band on the outside of the clutch on the kompressor side.
Older ones are completely black, on newer ones ('05) band is only as half as wide. I have not had a chance to tear them apart and see what the difference is, but from driving both styles, newer ones do not seem to engage as abruptly as older ones.
Although it could also be due to lack of miles on newer cars.
We will know more as miles go by.
