Here are the results I've seen.

Road and Track: 12.3 at 116 ... 60 in 4.2
Car and Driver: 11.7 at 125 ... 60 in 3.6
Motor Trend: 11.5 at 127 ... 60 in 3.5
... all in their October'05 issues.

Sounds like you're talking about the Road and Track test - that one is a real puzzle. Their times would indicate about a 100HP difference.

Interesting debate...granted your up against a stock C6 Z06, two of my buddy's have their Zees in the shop ready for upgrades.

Lou @ LG Motorsports just dyno'd a bone stock C6 Z06 with 55 miles using dealer fuel (octane unknown) - 443rwhp & 411rwtq (a/f was near 12:1 & little richer in the early rpms)




With LT headers, intake and PCM tune (dreaded TQ MGMT) - may see 480rwhp as the 04 Z06 with this setup gain approx. 70rwhp than stock, this would put the new Z06 at about 510-520rwhp. With a big cam & some head work 600rwhp & 580rwtq will not be out of the question.

LG long tube headers w/ cats...no "critcal" PCM tuning.

Can't wait to get my Vortech T-trim...

Everytime I race a Zo6...............they think I'm the w211 e55 beast (I drive a 2000 e55) so they get excited and light the tires on take off. Automatics are (in most cases) idiot proof..............thus making me look good. ANY Z06 would OWN me anytime..............but then again, the world is not full of race car drivers that don't fold under the excitment of a race.

I just went to my local dealer to see the new Z06. 7 in the show room. Looks bad ***....almost diablo like with the side scoops and it really has a shape to it....like a 36-23-36 model.

Downside is the price at Koons (Tysons Corner, VA) was 71,000 + $20,000 premium = $91k LOL!!!!

The drone sales man that was talking to me said it would do the quarter mile in 3.5 seconds. No clue what he was talking about....complete tool.

For 91K I'd rather buy something with more heritage and cache or just get a regular C6 and spend 10K in mods to get much more HP.

I think when the new 450 Cobra comes out next year GM will be in a tough situation as it will be faster than the C6....rumor is they will boost the C6 power...to 450, 500...what will happen to the C6 Z06's price and sales volume? They will have to sell it for 5K off MSRP - 60K in 1-2 years.

This C6 Z06 could be the ZR-1 of the '90-'91...over priced. Then comes the blue devil or whatever s/c 427 for the same price 65-70K at 600hp and you have no room for the C6 Z06. GM wants to sell 6K of these per year...wonder if they will be able to do it. The average Joe will not be able to get the Z06 to perform much better than the C6.
