Need Advice re brakes
I am planning to take my E55 on a 3000 + mile trip to Utah. I have had no message that my brakes are worn but I am probably close to where I could expect worn pads.
How long before they are totally shot do I get a warning? I do not want to go looking for dealers on my trip.
Should I go to my dealer and have them look at the brakes?

Thank you Fanatic and Ricky.
Fanatic, I have not taken my car ot hte track. I am fairly aggressive but most (75 percent?) of my 15K miles have been logged on expressways where brakes are seldom used.
I assume Ricky the few hundred miles you refer to would be in city driving.

Although different cars, I have an X5 that needed new pads @ 16k miles.

I never got a warning light but I did have to replace my front pads and ROTORS at 15,000 miles. But then again, I do drive like an animal! No track time but at least a few times a week several runs upwards of 150 mph (with a top of 163). You cover quite a bit of ground at those speeds so it does eat the brakes. Dealer told me rotors "were cracked due to extreme high speed driving and braking". Like the others said, have the dealer check it out. Do you have any faint, high pitched squealing? With most of your driving on expressway's i'm sure their fine.

Get your pads replaced before you leave for your trip. A few hundred dollars being spent a bit early will save you frustration and headache in the long run. My pads had to be replaced at 11K lol.
