Owners: tried to call Ms. Lehrbaum in chico,ca yesterday but never recd. the courtesy of a return call. Looked at AA auto warranty but unsure @ their longevity and reputation. What is everyone doing @ this issue? My dealer quoted me 4880.00 for 3 yr/100K option. They have treated me very well and their service is excellent. Does having the xtend warr. make a difference at trade in time?? Any ideas? Joker

extended warranty value
the value of an extended warranty is first and foremost peace of mind but a transferrable extended warranty is really a plus to help sell your car to the new buyer if you sold the car yourself.
I'm not sure if a dealer really cares about an extended warranty if you trade the car in?

When I purchased my car from a private owner, the "Extended -Warranty" was a major factor in me buying the car

I sent a message to Lisa a while ago and eventually did get a response and a quote. I simply told my dealer what the qoute was, and after crying like babies and telling me how it's impossible for a dealer to discount the warranty etc., etc., the prettymuch matched it. Call your dealer back and tell them you have done research and prices are all over the map, and theirs seems to be full retail. I do know prices went up this past Feb. and that's why I didn't wait until my car was a year old. Tell them you'd like to buy it from them but won't pay more for a piece of paper that's good at every dealer in the country.

you can also try Century Warranty Services (http://www.cfx.centurywarranty.com). I have my extended warranty through them and so far they're holding up to their end of the deal.

Like cte430, I also did eventually receive a call back from Lisa Lehrbaum, although almost a week after I left a message for her. Seems she is very busy and she does have to catch up on her messages.

I didn't get the warranty since I may pull the trigger on performance mods at some point, so I will wait until my 1 year almost runs out before I decide.

I did get the maintenance plan, but I read MBUSA has dropped it (?)

Here's the page from MBUSA. http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container...mited.jsp&pf=0 Kind of strange because I don't see E55 specifically, but it does say "excludes AMG" on the regular E prices, which is about $4,100. The other AMG cars are listed at $4,880. So, looks like you got some type of discount. Like I said prices did go up, and I don't recall what the list price was when I bought mine so can't tell you what % discount I got. Call Lisa again and hope you get a price from her. You don't have to buy from her but can use it as ammo against your dealer. Also, you may want to call a bunch of other dealers and tell them you know it's negotiable and looking for the best deal they can give.
