My E 55 Is Hesitating??? Help
I have an E 55 2005 which I have just purchased. I have taken it to the dealer because it hesitates from around 1500 rpm's to 2500 rpm's. If you step on it hard it wont hesitate. It feels like for a split second it's not getting gas or something. I have been four days with the dealer and they have found nothing. First they thought it was the transmission which was double engaging but they put a new software and it is still the same...then they changed a temperature censor and still nothing. Does any one have any idea what it could be!!! I am going nuts. THANKS FOR YOU HELP.

It's a slight "hesitation" that is followed or accompanied by the "chirp".
What you are experiencing is the supercharger electro-magnetic clutch engaging. This "hesitation" is only a millisecond delay and is normal. It is actuated by the ECU based on throttle position and how agressive the throttle is depressed.

The hesitation you are talking about on the 1-2 or any upshift for that matter is perfectly normal. It is called transmission overload protection. Briefly right before the upshift, timing will be retarded to slightly reduce the torque output and make the shift easier on the transmission.
The magnetic clutch can be fixed(the chirp).....

Gonna be wild to ride in the new N/A without head bobbing from 1st to 2nd.
When I have fam in the car now, I just drive in "C" mode....doesn't do it as it starts in 2nd.

Just wanted to say thank you for your information. I went to the dealer and drove two other e 55 and they did the same thing and it's what you said. They even chirped a little when the supercharger was engaging and then it did the hesitation. I am happy now

I think it's because of the fly by wire throttle system. There will always be some delay. My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Hemi power has a similar system since that 3 valve Hemi motor was developed by Mercedes and it does the same exact thing.
Best Wishes,
