Then again, I should be happy as my car is not docking port huneme until 10/14 (1st west coast batch).
It looks like everyone will be receiving the M5 at same time. I still don't believe that anyone will receive their car end of this week.

enzom where have you read that they are getting a softer L/C I though I read about it online but they wernt sure it would be that way.
If it gets a weaker L/C like the smg m3s did its not going to be as fast in the 1/4 as its been tested

Derek, if you dont like the M5, just give it to me ! ill do you the favor of taking that v-10 7 gear gearbox out of your hands--sigh reminds me of F1, it's almost over last race this weekend!
If i were to buy an M5, i would just get it because of the v-10 7 gear gearbox and the m's are awsome in the turns! plus i think it looks very nice--just imo. like i said if you are dissapointed lol my bday and xmas is comming up ! oh and keep in mind that i have always been an abuse child and neglected from toys! *softing your heart* haha

There have been several dynos where the M5 came out with 530hp, theres also rumors about detuning in the ECU. Some say even down from 600hp but take that with a scoop of whatever. If its true thought...
Im guessing around the same times that stock E55s have but with a better trap speed.

Intesting to hear a review from E55 owner after M5 engine is broken in and you can go WOT...Definately more involing driving experince...
So...E55 will be for Drag Racing and M5 for track use and you can use both as a daily driver...
You lucky man...congrads
P.S.
Are you going to modify it as well???...
All major German tuners have already came out with aftermarket Exhaust and ECU's bringing power to 530-550 HP...
Tuners (Hamann, G-Power, Nowacks) promise 2006 mid year release of 600HP version of M5...this will be cool...

I'm guessing the quarter mile times will be very close to the E55's, with slightly higher trapspeeds. I think it will be a driver's race from a stoplight. On the highway though, because of the high HP, good CD, and 7 gears, there's not much that will be able to keep up.

You should have it in time to show it off for the next UFC pay per view... wink wink, nudge nudge.

Saw my first production M5 last night at Ventura Blvd and Topanga Canyon Blvd. Ive seen various test mules over the past few months but this one was new with no plates yet. It was a gray color. I was in the parking lot right there and I immediately spotted it. Let the games begin!

But then again, it is pointless since no one is getting their car until CARB certification is done.
I suspect that BMWNA is using it as excuse to launch the car at same time. Majority of 1st batch US west coast M5 did not made it out with Orion Diamond.
I would not be suprised if the car is not released until 10/22 or later.

The LC in the M5 for US will be 4.000 rpms, and it will start few times, but as the clutch or somthing else gets hot computer shuts down LC feature untill it cools down.... so yeah it kinda sucks, I wonder what 0-60 does the m5 without the LC... 5.0?

Well im glad im slow, so i wont be getting picked on by any V10, its Straight 6s that gun for me. :p
Also i think the new M5 is a good looking car, then again i had the pleasure of driving my brothers 530I with the new 3.0 Engine for almost 2 months. Now i need to drive a new A6 and i will have driven the whole Euro Mid size luxury market.

One of my friends is number one on the local list but is reluctant to trade his old M5. He didn't like the way the current 5s drive and handle.
One thing that is making him consider trading for the new one is that his current car gets 10 mpg. With $2.90/gal gas and the amt he drives he's filling his car 2 to 3 times a week. That sucks.
Anybody know what the true in town mileage for the V10 is?

The E39 M5 has lousy recirculating ball, it made steering response very unlinear and artificial. Steering response was never good on V8 E39. I also doubt that his E39 M5 will out handle current 5 with ARS.
No one know the true mileage for the V10, but expect it to be worse than V8 from E39.
