Quote: when i asked my bmw service guy if i could drive the car hard since i passed the 1,500 mile mark on the M3 he said "their really isnt a break in period they are pre broken in at the factory, the break in rules mainly apply to manual cars so their clutch wear patters break in properly. he also said their was really no way to make anyone follow it and they cant void your warranty for not following their advice.
Your BMW service guy is an idiot.

M3 with SMG still comes with a clutch except it is electronically hydrulic controlled. Hence by his reasoning the same thing applies to SMG M3 as well.

Quote: Chappy and Amen, come on down. We have the track privately for the first few hours to ourselves which included Sonny's BBQ. Our group is Tallahassee Musclecar and if you want to get in before 1PM on Sunday, tell me how many tickets you need and I'll take care of it. Without a ticket, you can't get in until later.
Thanks for including us! Count me in for two cars (CLK55 and SLK55). I'll PM you my contact info too.

Quote: In November. Motor magazine (Australia).
The M5 trapped at 192.5km/h (about 120mph)
The CLS 55 at 189.2km/h.

Very little difference.

They used launch control in the M5 and had repeated clutch over heating - it took 45mins for them to do 4 runs. The CLS55 did them 1,2,3,4 bang, bang, bang.
In p400 mode in the M5 its 0-62mph time is 6 seconds.
They also point out that the CLS55 could catch the M5 if it was off the boil.

Its a good read.

M5 P400 0-62 in 6 seconds? New w221 Sclass with 388hp does 0-62 in 5.4seconds. Thats weak.
