2003 Е55 Amg...YES or NO...

Hello Guys...

Now I can get E55 AMG for reasonable price here...

We have very high custom duties for new cars, 3 year old cars cost 2.25 Euro per CC, so 12375 EURO to export in March...around 15k..

Therefore I now in the process of deciding if I should pay a deposit for this car or not...

Its a 2003 E55 AMG, fully loaded including DVD, Keyless Go, Command etc...with 23.000km around 14k miles...

Front added lip and rear spoiler (not sure which make) and looks like 19 CLS 55 rims...

Price is 60000 US +15k duties...too much compare to US...

Should I pull the trigger???

CLS 55 AMG
My personal oppinion, i would wait until the "E63" comes out(if it ever does) with the N.A. engine. But if you jus cant wait at all, i would go right ahead and hope there isnt anyone in front of that gun

Only input from a fellow 2003'r is to watch when she was made.

Mine was made Nov 02, so she runs out of warranty in 06...motor runs 44k installed....GET A WARRANTY......ANY WARRANTY

You will more likely have some problems....rotors.....brakes...something.

Other than that...come on in....the horsepower is warm.

I'm not ready to pay US 160k+ (50k+ custom duties) for E63 when it's comes...too much for ME...

Its from Mercedes Dealer...they say NO accidents or Hidden damages... but the sales person does not communicate too good, did not reply to my last e-mails, did not call ME back...

I dont know, like I selling not HIM...

Over all the car looks NICE...

Made in March 2003, eactly when then winter finished and can briing it...Wow...perfect for ME!!!

I only look for production date 2003...No point to buy late 2002 when I can buy early 2003...resale value...

I race a lot , I will tell you many stories of HOW fast E55...We can enjoy E55 potential here on the road, no probs with Police...

I want FAST E55 for 2 years NOW...

Anyone know about those Spoilers???

buy it

the miles are right, the car was obviously owned by an enthusiast evidenced by all the after market additions.
I can't comment on the price but any new or late model luxo car is a depreciating asset so if you can afford it...I say get it and drive it like you stole it!

Not sure it was my eyes, monitor or just sun reflection.... but the 1st picture shows the paint on front right fender and door looks slightly different.

For a car this price, I would personally inspect.... dealer could say what they want...

Let us know how it goes.

Are you sure that thiose spoilers are by Carllson???

Only my freind can check the car out...

I just found out that the CAR had HAIL Damage!!!!! Is it bad...

Not sure about warranty...I think it will finish when the become 3 year old, so exactly when I can bring it in...

First mods I plan to do:

1. Kleemann LSD - straight aways in Kleemann Germany, as for LSD its important to be installed correctly...

2. Wettrauer Chip - boosts power to 530 HP - not expensive - any good???

3. Remove CATs but not sure which ones - anyone have any knowledge about it...E55 has 4 CAT or???

4. Make 76mm X-pipe and remove resonators - that should make it souund good - but too sure about it, as I dont want to loose to much pressure in the exhausts with Bossted engine...Any experinces and suggestions???

What are the diameter on Kleemann exausts 70mm sounds small or Eisenmanns....

5. 85-90% tinted windows

6. Hella Xenon Fog lights and High beam Xenon light...

The spoilers should be the CARLSSON ones, or at least "CARLSSON-inspired".

I probably would not touch a car that has received hail damages coz it means that the exterior has been totally trashed.

With regards to the Xenon fog lights and high beam Xenon light, it is possible to do so, but it would cost you.

Xenons I have done on my M5...cost $800 with Hella block and Osram bulbs looks and works awesome...

What does the HAIL DAMAGE means??? Why do you say interior would be trashed???

The Benz has a sophisticated system to monitor the function of your electronics. If you swapped the lights, chances are your MFD will cough up some error codes like bulb out.

HAIL DAMAGE means that the car has been hit by rock hard ice that fell off from the sky. The size of hail could be as big as a baseball. Using f=ma where a = gravity, you can see how much force it has on impact. I'm saying the exterior could be trashed, not the interior.

But you could always repair it w/ paint-less dent removal..... looks awesome and only cost around $1000 for entire car over here (I'm not saying that my cars have / had hail damage). Still, even though all of the damage has been fixed perfectly, there'll be some bad feeling knowing that your car was damaged before

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
That is a very sharp looking E55. I was surprised that it is relatively inexpensive, considering that new ones cost a lot more in Europe due to the exchange rate and Mercedes-Benz keeping the prices consistent here so as not to alienate its biggest market. Then you mentioned the hail damage. This is probably why it is relatively inexpensive.
Some people may be more picky than others as far as hail damage. I would be willing to accept a hail damage car if the savings were significant and only if the work was
exceptional. Was it repainted and filled or did they perform paintless dent removal?
Paintless dent removal is preferred, due to the car keeping the original paint. However it is not possible in some instances.
One of my previous vehicles (2001 BMW 330i) was caught in a terrible hail storm in Texas and recieved much damage. Luckily, the insurance agreed to pay to replace almost all the body panels except for the roof. When it was finished, the only area of the vehicle that had any body filler was the roof. Best of all, the body shop paint job came out looking nicer than the factory finish due to them spending more time wet-sanding and smoothing it vs. a production paint job with normal orange peel. However, the resale value took a hit when it came time to trade-in.
I noticed on this E55 the wheels look to be a very aggressive offset. I'd be afraid of rubbing if you ever plan to lower it. Even as it sits, I'd be afraid of rubbing on large bumps.
For a purchase this significant, I would personally inspect the repair work. If the work was high quality and is not obvious, I wouldnt worry too much. The important part on the E55 is the drivetrain.
You should know, Kleemann is a Danish company, not German.

You funny...of course I know that Kleemann is Danish company...I been in contact with them before...

I not going to take this 55 to Denmark just to install LSD...Also German shop is one of the major ones...Kleemann Germany actually designed 211 55 ehausts systems...They told they had to go through over 30 diff sets up to get the best result and no to have to much resonation...

I need to find our more about this HAIL damage...and how was it fixed...

The prices for relatively fresh no more the 20k miles start at 58k EURO - 16% MWST (German VAT) if you export the car out of EU...

To put Xenon is not a problem, you just need to put by pass wires and not lights...done this on my M5...if not the you get faulty Fog light warinings, cause Xenon uses less energy and computer think the something wrong with fog lights....

Hahaha, awesome.

I would say to take a closer look, just as every body else suggested. An E55 is a great car but you don't want to be left with residual damages. Those wheels do look good too, but I'd be careful about the fitment. I think I read somewhere that the CLS 55 wheels could technically not fit on the E 55. If I were you, I'd take a closer look into that. Good luck!

PS: If you're going to Kleemann, get one of their rear deck spoilers - that one is uuuggllyy. I like the front one though.

I can only send my freind to have a look at it, he usssually send all the cars from Germany for ME...

Small hail damage is not a problem< but if had been hit by iced rain then it is...
