Going to the AMG challenge @ Infineon,,,

is anyone else here going?

Just picked up my 06 E55, and just as I am heading to the car to leave, I get invited to an AMG Challenge event at Infineon Raceway. I was reluctant at first as it is taking place on 11-10-05, (8 days after picking up my car), and did not think the car would be track ready by then. Of course the sponsor said that the instructors will know my car is a week old, and have me drive it acordingly. He also said that with the torque being high at low RPM's we don't need to develop high RPM's. I didn't buy it... BUT,,, Why not break the car in, in 8 days? I am sure I will want to drive it a little bit ... So I went for it; and signed up for the event...

Well I should have known it would be no prob,,,2 days old and 300 miles right on pace... Don't worry all I am breaking this baby in right, so don't start with all the "I would hate to be the owner after you" crap. Although any constructive recomendations on how to maximize my experience at a top notch raceway are most certainly welcome

And if anyone else wants info on the event let me know, and I'll give you the contact info. (there may still be time to sign up)

Oh,,, did I mention??? THIS CAR WAS WACKED HARD BY GOD IN THE ***, AS IT LEFT GERMANY! I think iv'e bought a four door Ferrari...

Yes they do provide the cars for the most part, but in the afternoon a racing instructor goes out with you (in your own car) on the track.

If you mean a website for the event, I couldn't find one. The raceway website is : http://www.infineonraceway.com/ it doesn't list the event yet, but it does have info on the Jim Russell race training.

If you mean; do I personally have a web site. Then my business website is http://www.drealm.net

You use their cars ONLY. Yours will never see the track.

Agree with cte - I did both Challenge days at Homestead in May, and they only use their fleet of cars. Nobody put their own cars on the track. Too much liability for MB. With that said, you should go - it was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done!! Congrats on your new Beast!

I was told we would be driving our own cars on the track. They have employed Jim Russel race training, and we will be on the track only with a profesional race instructor, after doing a lead-and-follow exercise. We also will be using a skid car, as well as doing other things in other cars, but we will deffinatly get to take our cars on the track,,,I will post some pics after the event...

2005 E55 AMG
This sure doesn't sound like an AMG Challenge event - it sounds like a ESPN Jim Russell School event. The 2005 AMG Challenge ended with the event at Lime Rock last August and the 2006 schedule hasn't been announced yet.

The Infineon track schedule says:

11/10/2005 ESPN Russell Racing School

If it were an AMG Challenge event, AMG's name would be plastered all over it.

Then it's not an AMG Challenge. I've been to 3 of them and no one was allowed to put their own car anywhere near the track.

Its definitely not an official AMG Challenge event. The last scheduled one for 2005 was in Limerock in August. They probably won't ramp up the 2006 season until next March. Yours must be different. How much are they charging you? I wouldn't use my own car if I could beat the **** out of someone else's!!
