Starting to think Gustav had his tweaked somehow. Perhaps from B themselves since he seemed to own the first one on the planet.
Every week it was getting worse with the video posts.

I have raced two Gallardos with my car. One was a friend of mine, another was a chance encounter I had on the street.
My car traps around 114-115mph bone stock. The friend's gallardo was an '04 6-speed car. We raced numerous times from 50-60mph up to around 100-110mph and while he did pull away, my friend did not pull away as quickly as the Gallardo did on that M5.
The 2nd time I was able to go from 60mph to 150mph. I do not know if the Gallardo was a 6-speed or e-gear. It was white. We ran from 60mph to 150mph and he pulled the same as my friends car did up until 120mph where I began to INCH on him up until 150mph.
This would seem consistent with the 996TT I raced up until 155mph, who also pulled on me until 100/110mph or so, but from 100-150 we stayed dead even. The 996TT was chipped and making around 425/430rwhp.
We've also seen a time slip posted with a 113.x mph trap speed. This makes sense with the M5 in the video, as I'd have a few mph on him and the Gallardo would be pulling away faster than the Gallardo initially pulled on me, because the M5s trap speed is a tad bit lower.
Gustav, I'm sorry to say, but I really think you had a ringer. I hate to bench race here, but the case is beginning to build up. Don't get me wrong, I am well aware of the benefits of the //M platform as a former E46 M3 owner, but this domination the E60 M5 is supposed to have over the W211 seems to really be losing it's feasibility. No one is going to question it's road course prowess, but it seems in terms of the good ol' 1/4 mile race and the classic autobahn style high speed jaunts, the M5 may not be the king after all...
Just my $.02

Gustav,
Well my car, until I do the Kleemann ECU, is limited to ~155mph, and I imagine the E60 M5 in the US is the same. If the M5 can only shine above a speed it cannot even reach from the factory, like 155mph, is that really worth discussing?
Once you open up the discussion to non-factory standard cars, all gloves are off. You and I both know that the E60 M5 will never have the capabilities that the W211 has in terms of upgrade potential. Therefore, it is in the M5s best interest to talk about itself in factory terms, not modified or "de-limited" terms.
If the M5 really only "shines" above 155mph, for the US consumer that really does not do us any good.

There was also an article in MOTOR (Oz car mag) that featured a V10 shootout between M5 and Gallardo and the Gallardo came out on top in every department, handling, straight line speed etc etc, I'll see if I could scan a copy and upload it

Not sure about options available to American BMW M owners (and I've been one), but I'm pretty sure it's the same that applies to US AMG owners - AMG will NOT de-restrict US-spec vehicles at the factory, apart from the 030 option for certain AMG's (CLS, SL, SLK - the E55 is not included). De-restriction may be an option for European E55 owners, but it is not available to US owners, even those who elect to take European delivery. To the best of my knowledge, the only US-spec, non-030 package AMG's that are de-restricted have been been modded by aftermarket tuners (RENNtech, Kleemann, etc).
Autobahn top-end numbers are good for bragging rights, but of questionable use to the majority of US owners. Besides being illegal in the US, the opportunity to safely achieve sustained speeds over 120 mph on public roads is a rarity here. We're much more concerned about _usable_ performance for _our_ driving conditions - like standing start 0-60mph and quarter-mile statistics. These are our daily, real world opportunities to explore our cars performance. You seem unable - or unwilling - to understand that our priorities are different than yours.

Who cares if you race from a rolling start thats garbage. I still dont think the m5 will beat the e55 in a 1/4 mile drag race. Around the track I believe you, but you seem to beat everything. The porsche ate you off the line and you finally pulled on it later on in the video. Who cares if you can beat cars over 120 mph. No one goes "Hey lets go 80 mph and then race!" Thats useless in the real world. Im still waiting for the video of your m5 beating an enzo and you claiming "LC and 7 gears really do the trick."

The problem with the frickin M5 is that it has over 100 different combinations of gearing, horsepower, LC, suspension, yada yada yada. If there is anyone who KNOWS the M5, it would have to be Gustav.
From seeing this last video, I must admit that my suspicions have been raised about the M5s prowess against these sportscars.
BUT, Gustav makes a valid point in wanting to know EXACTLY what settings was the M5 at. Seeing that the M5 was just delivered to the North American market in the past few weeks, it is conceivable to assume the car is not fully broken-in.
Time will tell as more videos will surface

Wow, nice videos.
I wonder if Gustav is just showing set up races, or something else going on, but the m5 on the links was said to have 2K km on it, and more than likely the owner knows what are the best settings for what kind of race.
I do believe it was fair and simple race, and I don't believe a single word gustav is saying since he lied is butt of on rs6.com forums (posted a video of m6 beating the rs4 and said it was in an airfiled - a total lie, the video was clearly taken on the highway, and did not even admit himself to lying, thus losing all his credibility - at least in some people's eyes).
I would have expected a Gallardo and srt10 to beat the m5, but still the m5 fared pretty good for his size of a big sedan. I would expect the m5 would get better as the miles go on to the engine, but most likely will not be able to beat any of the cars in the video. Gallardo is just an amazing car, I wonder what the Murcielago would do

There have been four instrumented 1/4 mile road tests of the M5 so far from European mags. None of them has equalled, let alone bettered, the times the E55 has gotten. The times range from 12.55 to 13.2.
So your ringer test is contradicted by the test results for this car.

Hey Gustav, since you think that your M5 can beat anything, bring your video camera and meet me at the track, you'll probably beat both the Porsches around the road course and the 600 down the dragstrip right?

Not to be a ****, but read the thread that Bob linked to in his first post: it plainly states that when your butt buddy and fellow troll Gustav raced the Gallardo, the Gallardo started out at 50 km/h in second gear...which is, drumroll please: out of the Gallardo's powerband!
Here is what a Lambo Gallardo owner had to say on this subject:

Also, as stated here:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62048
alot of settigns on the M5 can affect the outcome. We saw that EDC settings (damper) even makes a difference.

What would you expect? BMW gives him these press cars not out of the goodness of their heart, but for Gustav to market them for them. Free advertising, aimed directly at the demographic most likely to purchase the cars.
But we see what happens when the car in question is not a BMW-supplied ringer, now don't we? Badda bop, badda bing!

Gustav, Why is it that you continue to post here? Have you nto realized through your thick skull that you are not wanted here given how you troll. Maybe if you particiapted in the discussions we have here and didnt come off as a total jack ***, you might have more respect. ![banned](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/banned.gif)
Improviz, Once again you come through man. Keep up the good work on nailing facts and lies to Gustav. He should be banned.
