I found out what BMW is short for today...
As I was taking a coworker to pick up his BMW from the shop today he told me BMW actually stood for Bus Metro or Walk as he found out the hard way since his 540 spends more time in the shop than on the road.

Trust me I know!
I OWNED a 745li and used my Ferrari as the daily driver while it was in the shop! Something wrong with that!

LOL...
But my MBs and Audis also sucked as bad if not worse than my BMWs...
All in all, all the German makes suck in quality. My Lexi NEVER had any issues except for scheduled maitenance. The germans should kidnap a Lexus engineer to make better and reliable stuff, but leave the power dept. alone.

Bus Metro or Walk is funney as hell unless your the poor guy who's BMW is in the shop.
I recently read in an engineering mag where a six year old lexus 300 is more reliable then a new 750li and all the German manufacturers fell way short of the Japanese cars. THe article also mentioned that Hyundai is a very reliable car and costs even less then the Japanese cars.
For what its worth my LandCruiser is totally bullet proof, my e55 is good, my wifes C320 has never been in for anything but service after 20,000 miles, but the two S8 Audi's I had lived in the shop and was the reason why I got rid of them.
German cars to me are alot like trophy wifes, they need maintenance,
and yes I speak from experience... in addition they don't want YOUR opinion, they want to hear THEIRS in a deeper voice.

i have had much better luck with BMW than I do with MB.
Of the MB that i have owned/own except one that i really don't have any problem with (putting the recall aside).
None of the german car will hold candle in terms of reliability as compare to any toyota or lexus. Heck, i put 34k miles on my van and it still drives like new and has no problem what so ever.
At 15.5k miles on my wife's CLK, i am about to torch that piece of junk.
Also, I am also changing my point of view regarding MB service.
Last thursday the convertible top on my wife's car quit working. The weather was pretty bad (about to rain at the time, and did rain that night). Since the her dash will not show the top being closed, and i was afraid that the car would be drenched. Asked her to brought the car to the dealership and drop it off (Claridge in fremont).
The 1st question that the service advisor asked where the car was brought from. Since the car was not brought from claridge the advisor turned cold. Told my wife that due to ownership change at dealer, he has no one to look over the car and ask my wife to drive it home with top that can't be closed.
I am furious. Since it was about to rain and the top can't be fully closed, why can't the dealership keep the car and gave her a loaner to drive home. If the car was drenched who is going to pay for the damage. I called MBUSA to complain, within 15 minutes a technician from claridge showed up at my house and closed the top for my wife.
I simply don't understand why they could not have done that before I have to make the call to MBUSA. I never had bad experience at Claridge until this incident. But it really got me pissed off.
Right now, i will say that both service and quality from MB blows compare to lexus. Although i still think MB service is still better than BMW.
Since we are on this subject. I am going to make another complaint regarding BMW. My M5 has stupid control arm damage from the factory. According to my SA he has already order a replacement part for me. So almost a week later, i still have not heard from him on my replacement control arm. Left him a voice mail still no response. BMW service is by far the worst for all preimum brand.

At first I thought you were just some idiot that fell for that. But then I read on the rest of your post and I find out your just joking around. BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works right?

Bavarian Motor Werks?
Eh, My X5 is tight but whatever. It doesn't get as many looks as my dads R230. And then our LS430 is never in the shop, but, uh, it's a LS430.
I would give anything for a F430, even if I could only drive it one day out of the week. The sensation is worth it.

I regret not getting the Li but my wife seems to clip the curve on any long vehicles and she wanted the i instead. Our A8L, POS (Audi bought it back within 2 weeks of purchase) my wife clipped the curve in that thing 4 times the first week, thank GOD they bought it back

You will LOVE the 750, far better cruiser than the S Class IMO. The ride is tight yet not overly stiff. Power is not bad for a fat pig either. I ran 14.07 and 14.12 at the track with Spero and other E55 guys

BMW service is just plain horror. My son broke the rear window shade in Oct. I call on Oct 14th to make an appointment and they said "we'll see you Nov. 15th". Was not happy but accepted it. I drove there to show them the shade and advised them to pre order the necessary stuff so we can get this done one time. Today my wife goes there to drop off the car and they tell her "we have to order parts, our next available appointment is Dec. 19th" I was LIVID!!! I called them and told them you have until Monday to get it fixed or you can kiss the X5 deal goodbye. Needless to say, GM calls and tells me that they have ordered the part for overnight delivery and that my wife can bring the car anytime it's convenient for her and she will get a BMW as a loaner.
Point I'm making is that it shouldn't have come down to this for them to get it right.
With MB, worst case scenerio for me was 3 days for an appointment. With Lexus I can call 4PM on Wednesday and they tell me to come anytime before 9PM and still get a loaner at 8:45PM, Lexus loaner at that...why oh why did we ever sell our LX470

Damn I get same day appointments at both my BMW and Mercedes dealers. Though they might not be able to touch the car till the next day, they still get a decent loaner ( dont care if its a C, E, or Toyota, as long as I get a loaner lol).
Im sorry to hear that you have such horrid service from BMW E55_Power. BTW Where are you located?

3 Day lead time for MB is VERY acceptable for me. Although I got fed up with waiting 3 days once, I decided to give my SA $100 and after that I would get same day appointments
