What somebody drives, or how many whatever somebody drives does not make that person a better man than the other. A day may come and millions and billions may just puffff, gone. There is absolutely nothing to be show off in what one drives. And bragging about what somebody has or drives, or how much one has may just be the difference between the better man and the other man.

 

As my girlfriend states....some men NEED their vehicles to make up for other inadequacies in their life....

Threads like this are one reason I have stopped spending time on this board. Sudo4re -- I thought your original post was pretty tasteless, so obviously so that you should apologize (simply and cleanly). It may not have been your intention, but your post really does sound racist. Surely you understand that no one can really "see" you on the thread, so you have to be careful not to be misunderstood?

RennTechV12 -- don't you know not to feed a troll? When you go overboard on the attack it does two things -- it feeds the troll AND it makes the thread ugly. Though I believe you were right to be offended, you were SO right that it really didn't require an inventory of your garage to impress us (though, I would LOVE to walk through your garage sometime!). Sometimes it's best to keep it short and sweet. A simple one-liner would have smoked the offender, would have looked classy, and would have kept you above the fray.

And -- just in case you felt attacked -- I bet 99% of the people on this board knew there was a problem with the original post and never even got into the thread. I wouldn't read it because I thought the "pop-up" clearly showed the original post could be taken as racist. I never read the thread until it got so long I was curious about what potential fury was inside.

And, frankly, I'm surprised someone didn't point out the problem before you came along.

Finally, the direction of a board is a conscious decision made by the majority. If the majority wants to keep this a friendly, informative place, certain behaviors can't be tolerated. Sometimes the best way to eliminate unwanted behaviors is to ignore them.

Just because you think that something is funny, that means that no one should be offended by it?

Surely, even you aren't stupid enough to not be able to see how that statement could be construed as racist. "Poor Old Negro Thought It Was A Cadillac" says that black people are too dumb to know the difference between a Pontiac and a Cadillac, and also says that black people "as is stated in many racist jokes" all strive for a Cadillac.

I only bring up my vehicles to state that I am black and know "a little bit" about cars, or maybe I was too dumb and thought I was getting a Coupe de Ville when I ordered the Carrera GT.

 

I'm just wondering why is it ok for a black comedian to make fun of black people ok.

No prob oblax, I don't know all the details just what I perused....I think Chapelle and Mencia are hilarious, all Mencia does is rips latinos (Puerto-Ricans, Mexican, etc...) to shreds and for better or worse I think it's hysterical.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder for it, or that I can't laugh at it or think it's a personal attack on me on Hispanics, Latinos or whatever the heck is PC this week.

Big Brother is watching. Let's get back to topic please. The racism subject is not going to be solved here. While I agree that part of the problem is that people are way too sensitive to these comments, I ask that everyone try to respect each other. I don't think the original comments were meant to offend or attack anyone personally (people REALLY need to learn to laugh at a joke). Whereas the response to those comments were direct attacks. Fighting fire with fire doesn't make the situation any better and, as expected, causes everything to spiral downhill.

 

I think you have an ego issue cause you are a pretty big ******. Im just saying that the thread lost all meaning because no one was posting acronyms anymore. Instead, people like you keep B!TCHING!
