Do you ever hesitate to race a fellow AMG or other Merc?
Now I know we all love to run on the street against all other brands, makes and models. And would bet none of us hesitate ... but do you ever think twice about running against another AMG, especially an "equal" e.g. E55 vs E55 or CLS, SL 55. Or against someone with a bit more: E55 vs CL65, or someone with a little less: E55 vs slk55, clk55?
I like to run against anyone, figuring it's either win...or learn how to improve next time, but am curious whether these thoughts ever crossed your mind before you "launched"

I love it! I prefer to race an AMG over anything else. Its great for comparison and it seems that theres an "unspoken friendship" between AMG owners. Theres always a smile and a wave afterwards as opposed to a bad look. We all share the same appreciation

Open stretch on the 5 here in SoCal I had my SL55 up against a E55... but the guy started with the sick weaving once we caught up to traffic and I immediately powered down. Never worth endangering anyone for the "imaginary trophy".

my last st race was w/ a sl55 it was pretty even all the way, no big deal no real loser just 2 amgr's let'n there 5.5's breath alittle. but 2 your question

On the contrary, I love the opportunity to race another 55 as its one of the few cars out there that will give me a run for my money! Very few cars worry me as my car is faster than 95%+ of the cars on the road but another 55K car will always have me a little concerned. If I expect to win, I will have to react fast and feather the throttle just right or I will give my opponent all the ground he(sometimes she) needs to win! I have beaten EVERY 55K car that had rims and have only lost to one without, an SL55 with a Renntech Stage 1. Also lost to a CL65 and SL65(duh) though I easily had them both to the 60MPH+ mark due to their lack of traction!

Of all this time I've owned this vehicle, I never had a chance to be side by side to an AMG in a straight. And when I was side by side with any of them, they either made a left or right turn.

'10 E63 AMG
CL65 last Saturday from a stop light. I took him off the line and then he drew even after a couple hundred feet (his car looked brand new, I don't think he was quite used to driving it yet). At 70 mph I shut it down (fear of cops), and he went flying by. At the next stop light we both had huge grins on our faces and shared thumbs-ups! It was a blast! That's the first and only time I've run vs. another AMG car.

I had to put down a CLk55 earlier this year. The guy was behind me and STARING at the E55. I am like, "Come onnnnn, don't do this, we're brothers man. Don't you get it, you can't win this"
Sure nuff, after agressive driving behind me, he tries to get around and had to put him down.....like beating up your little brother when you're younger.....part of you feels good, part feels guilty.
Only other time was an ML55 and again, this guy "goes for it" as we both pull off onto a long straight. That was sad.....
I never look for it with an AMG, just don't think it's right. One of my favorite stories is me and a C55 hammering up I-15 back to back with him leading. No desire to pass him...just 2 brilliant silvers hammering down the highway bumper to bumper. He gave me thumbs up and went on his way.

I was in a group of about 15 high-end (turbo 996s, my E55, Gallardo, Murci, SL65 Kleemann, etc.) cars running through some back roads in central FL a few months ago. At one point, I lined up next to the modded SL65 at a light. When it turned green he had no idea that I was going to floor it. So it took him about 150-200 feet to catch me. But he did and passed me with authority at that point. It was a blast.

I've only had one instance where I tussled with an AMG (SL55) and it was FUN! He gave me a thumbs up and we parted ways about 2 lights into it... :v

I had the opportunity to race a cl55 Friday night on Michigan Ave. (Gold Coast) Some guy and wifey weaving in and out of traffic until he gets up next to me at the light. Unfortunately, had to embarrass him in front of the Mrs. She was MF'in him at the next light.....guess she was scared or maybe even a little embarrassed! Only MB I wouldn't run would be SLR or DerekFSU! Why waste the gas @ $2.85/gallon! I already know the outcome. Even a 65 driver would have to prove he knew what he/she was doing!
