2005 E55 new wheels - old school
Starting off for the first of many sets I will demo on this car, a little old school...
Auto Couture Magnifique - black label forged
brushed/chrome lip
F: 20x8.5 2" lip
R: 20x10 3" lip
Yokohama Advan sport
F: 245/30/20
R: 285/25/20
I know this set will get mixed reviews because of the full face design - what do you guys think?

The thing I really dislike about these rims is that they almost completely cover that beautiful Silver 8 Piston Caliper! The brakes on these cars are wicked and now they're all but invisible.

I've seen these wheels on Lexus LS and S-Class Benz and they looked great. However, I really don't like how they look on the E55. I personally feel 20s are too big for an E-Class, but what I really dont like is that you cant see the huge brakes. Leave these to the E320, E500 blingmobiles.

SL 65 AMG and E63s AMG
I think they are "lovem or hatem" wheels.
I like wide open spoke type wheels to show off the brakes and rotors. Also I prefer to improve the cooling rather than hinder cooling of the brakes.

we only slapped these on for photos...the real sets start next week, which I'm sure will be much more appealing to this crowd.

I bet they are as heavy as a tank, can you tell the difference in launches? They look above average IMO.

If I am not mistaken, he is really gonna have heat issues with the brakes now correct?
Darn things run hot enough as it is....very little air passage over those solid monsters isn't there? Just don't take it to the race track!
Only other point I would make is that when I was at the track, most of people that came by to look at the car stared at those satellite dish AMG brakes and rotors....they really do impress.

I dont buy into the 19's are the best size crap..
20's look the best on an E..I bought 19's and they looked like ***..
Three piece 19's look worse than cast.. The only 19's that look nice are AMG's...
I like your wheels, they look good but Id opt for an open wheel to show off the big brakes. If your car was a E350 or E500 then you would be good with solid face wheel.
Other than covering the sweet brakes I think your car looks great

Those kinda wheels look good on the big body cars like an S class or Rolls etc.. I took think its a shame they completely cover the sweet calipers on the E55 though.

I am surprised by how much I like them - slightly reminiscent of the old AMG monoblocs. I think that car looks AWESOME!
However I do think that while the 20's look good, you will hate the ride. If you search well on several forums and eBay, you will see many cases of E55 and CLS55 users selling their 20" rims because the ride is too stiff and lacks any compliance.
Then again if you ride on stunningly smooth blacktop, maybe you will never notice. Just dont take the car to the track or the drag strip, unless you hang onto your old rims and tires.
just my $0.02

wow, some of you really don't read...just like the pictures huh?
Guys, don't worry...if you actually read his post, he says this is not a wheel that he's keeping (or taking to the track). He sells wheels for cryin' out loud! The Beast is his ride that he showcases his products on. I'm sure he's coming with many other "what do you think of this wheel" posts in the coming weeks.
Oh, and IMO I love the wheels but you can tell they're not functionally adding anything to the car (and definitely taking away in weight, handling, brake cooling etc.). For that reason, I'd say show.... but no go.
