I've never seen such a great 1/8th mile time with such a bad 1/4mile. Something does not match. With that 1/8th he should have ran a high 11 at well over 120.

I agree. The numbers don't add up and how is it he had all the other numbers, but no 60'? Maybe those are GTech times or something?

.............that is actually quite impressive with a 60' time of 2.26. they will get much better times if they get the 60' time to say 1.8. The car already has the trapspeed to do 11's.

not a bad time.... (I think we all expected the M5 to do 12.2 to 12.5 1/4)...
once we start seeing some 12.20 to 11.90, then it would rival to the 1/4 mile of a properly driven, properly launched (STOCK) E55.
I say... thats ok for MB owner and (future owners of the E55, like Myself)... BMW had 3 years to get it right, and they finally caught up in the straight line performance.
BUT, look out for the counter punch next year... good thing it does not take MB 3 years to react.
E63/ CLS63 (7 spd).... you throne is awaiting...

Gotcha, I see the timeslip now.
Damn, that is VERY impressive. A 12.32 with a 2.26 60' will be an 11.75 or better with a 1.80 60' (generally each .10 in 60' improvement will net .15 at the big end of the track). We'll need more data, but if that's an average car, the E55 is in trouble

Looks like the M5 isn't the paper tiger many thought it would be

This is not what you originally posted. The 1/8th mile trap was 100.?? MPH
You edited your post. Please repost the original times then your edit.
As I said, 100 mph traps in the 1/8th = well over 120 in the 1/4.

I am sorry guys, 101 mph 1/8 mile would be a typical track light error, I have seen them before, some say 160 mph!...an M5 would NOT be able to do 101 mph at the 1/8th mile.

so, it seems that the M5 is running as fast as the EURO mags say. Oh, well, they still are not in the 11's with the E55's. But, I will say the M5 is growing on me the more I read.

With no other information, I'd say that's pretty damn impressive, given the 60 ft time!
I'll still reserve judgement until we get more individual data points as car break-in/driver familiarity progresses.
I hope we have the advantage in the US stoplight GP, but the M5 looks like a terror on the top end.

After driving my buddies, it is a terror over 120mph. Should be going to the track next Friday for some runs with his LC and get some more real timeslip runs. They are calling for high 50's/low 60's and sunny....perfect for the BEAST

Should have some stock E55'ers show up.

Out Of Control!!
Was this bracket racing? It looks like he dialed in a 12.30. If so, then he probably shut down just before the quarter to prevent breaking out. He was just under his dial time and the other broke out by going faster than his dial in time.

I can't get over how good that ET is for how lousy the short time is. I went 2.2 with a 12.7@115 stock and then got down to several 12.2s@114 with 1.84 short times.
When I start seeing funny #s like this it reminds me of a poorly driven Supra.
How can 2 E60s be so different??? This is from dragtimes.com

Based on his MPH and ET, I don't think he let out of it.

here is the original slip..... the guy who posted it updated the record shortly after with the slip you see above...
something is off... 101MPH 1/8 trap? must be track error... that's what derek's car does.... and on that run it pulled off a 2.07 60' time and a 12.3, the 2nd slip has a 2.2 60' and still ran a 12.3...

I'm gonna just have to mash the gas and see what happens. With TC off the car just burns rubber so I don't know if LC is even required to launch this car hard.
My car seemed to have gotten louder all of a sudden, either the 1200 mile service really unlocked something or I have a hole in my muffler somewhere.

Here are Derek's time slips from initial two runs w/o launch control that we did not post so as to avoid criticism since the M5 was handicapped until the computer allowed the LC to work (Remember Sleepless in Georgia Thread). His car trapped high and his 60 ft was not bad w/o LC. The previous slip above doesn't look right to me either. The car appears to pull like crazy and drops off substanially after the 1000ft mark.
