If any of you decide to do a proper garage floor that is nice and durable, I would suggest a terratzo floor.
I have seamless terratzo floor that was done by hand, halogen lighting, humidity controlled, custom cherry cabinets, full working tool area for cars and house stuff. I will take a picture once I come back next year.

Here's some of the garage here in North Scottsdale. Hydraulic lift, air compressor, pressurized water, full AC/heat climate control.

Well actually, if you work on your cars, it's nice to have. PLUS, a lot of the people who do that use radiant heat, and it's not a big deal that since they also usually have the radiant heat for the driveway to go with the pavers, to add it to the garage. It's awesome. The second you close the door, the room is back to regular temperature. My next house is going to be done entirely with it.

wow. my garage is too small to have a work bench, not even to mention space for working on the cars. Its just a tight fit for a W211 and W210 plus one shoe rack. 44metres sqr

Something sounds fishy about your friend "Steve's" garage. I remember being on his personal website with all the pictures posted, and above are not 2 different garages, but all one that the owner kept upgrading. With the exception to the underground garage, which is still on the same property.
I could be wrong, just my opinion.
