I spoke with my local event planner and they said there should be some word in March for Chicagoland. They put me on a contact list for when they are ready. No word yet.

Hi all,
Can one of you who knows tell me how close the CT track is to an airport and which one it is? Also, which track is better, the CT or FL one?

Lime Rock is close to Hartford (Bradley International Airport) - about 35 miles away.

I went to both days at Homestead last year - its a great track - but I'm sure Lime Rock gets the job done, too.

Have fun!

who thinks we can tack the East Coast AMG weekend on to the weekend before the Limerock AMG Challenge for a huge turn out? July 29th and 30th?

I drive a E55T, SLK55 and 65 Mustang Conv.
Let me ask this way. Given your choice (and knowing he can't do it in Fontana) where would you guys take the advanced class?

I would love to do all three days, but am a little curious about Fontana as a venue. I know it's a super-speedway, and am assuming they have a road course in the infield? Was it a good venue (Wolf?) -- I'm just north of San Francisco, so my standards are Sears Point and Laguna Seca. I'd rather not fly to other venues, as my body is severely airliner challenged...

Also, I thought someone may have posted a phone contact for registration (a while back) -- is this available, or will it be online registration only?

BRT3 I never been to Sears Point or Laguna Seca but they are lendenary courses. I had a blast at Fontana but I do not have much race track experiance. I really am not quailified to say if Fontana is a good road course, but my guess you would be disapointed based on the tracks your used to.

PS I think we are the only 2 people in the world to own both the E55 Wagon and a Sony Qualia Wolf

Thanks for the info; even though Sears Point & Laguna Seca are great road courses, I'm mainly wondering if it's going to be worth the bucks to do three AMG days at Fontana. I've seen the road course there on TV (I think), and it doesn't have to be pretty to get the job done. Has anyone out there driven Fontana and one of the NorCal tracks; also, is there anyone that could compare the AMG course to any of the other driving schools?

Regarding your PS -- we may very well be the ONLY guys in the universe with E55 wagons, Sony Qualias, AND wives who share and support our enjoyment of these hobbies... I consider myself very lucky; in my case my wife even has her own motorcycle and joins me on rides. She got tired of squeezing on the back of my bike, as I'm 6'7" and hog most of the seat...

Limerock best course in the bunch -- a once-in-a-lifetime-level opportunity, running on Limerock....

You can fly into Bradley Int'l at Windsor Locks or Stewart Int'l at Newburgh, NY to get to Lakeville, CT and Limerock....

Mr. Wolf would appreciate it for years afterwards....

Is that a hint? I am actually trying to talk him into doing both CT and FL but he's not being very receptive. Of all things it's ME trying to talk him into going away for our anniversary

Lady Wolf - you know how the anniversary thing works...if you really, really, really want to go to one or both events - how can your loving husband refuse you?

Simply impossible for the husband to do so, and live it down, isn't it?

I would do Limerock for sure if I had to choose between the two. In fact, if I have to choose between the two I am going to try and make Limerock....

Looks like we have multiple threads on this topic, but the mbevents.com web-site for the AMG challenge is finally up and actually allowed me to register for Fontana without any problems. Hooray!

Worked for me as well. One piece of advice: if you're trying to get into the "Graduate" program on Saturday after taking the "Challenge" on Thursday or Friday, the site won't let you use the date of the Challenge course (since it is a future date). This is important because they want you to have previous Challenge (or racing) experience before taking the Graduate course. I entered a date of 05/11/05 as the previous Challenge date, and the site accepted this. Anyone know of a decent place to stay in Fontana??? Now I'm wondering if I should also drop by one of those SoCal shops for mods like the EvoSport brake rotors & engine cooling package...

I'm looking at the AmeriSuites Ontario Mills, which it says is just 3 miles from the track. Certainly no 5 star, but looks pretty nice and figure the event is consuming most of the budget anyway!

If we have a bunch of people driving rather than flying from the Bay Area, convoy would be pretty cool...

That's about my speed; all I care about is that it's relatively clean, close to the track, and WiFi equipped...

A convoy would be nice, but I'm close to Oakland and may just fly Southwest, since they fly Oakland to Ontario. Of course, the right AMG product might be nearly as quick (if you add up the total travel time)...

I have a video of Ferraris running at Fontana (through the windshield of an F355 and including both an F50 and F40) - would you like me to email it to you? (14.0 MB)

Also - here's a URL for a great one-lap windshield video of Lime Rock - http://www.limerock.com/inter_videos.htm

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
How do you get an invitation code for the AMG challenge? Do you need one to register for the event?

Thumbs up Anyone else going to Lime Rock?

I'm signed up for the Lime Rock AMG Graduate class on 8/02 -- anyone else from the Northeast crowd? I'm checking with the Interlaken Inn about a special rate again this year.

Here's a link to some video from the 2005 event:

I agree! I did Homestead 2 years ago and thought Lime Rock was much better (did both days last year!).
