275/30/19 or 285/30/19

I have a set of gfg wheels coming in this week 19X8.5 and 19x10 and need to know what everyone thinks on rear tire size? I have had some guys say if I drive the car hard that the 285/30/19 tends to rub a bit so I am thinking of going 275/30/19 which is only .4 smaller on width 10.8 vs 11.2 any ideas?

I'm going through the exact same thing since my 295/30/19's are rubbing. Problem is, the Pilot PS2s are the tire of choice... and in the 285 size they are very very hard to find. Other vendors like dunlop and Bridgestone make average tires in that size, so your choice is limited.

The moment you move to 275/30, you'll find Goodyears and Yokohamas and other comparable tires to the PS2s..

That's exactly where I'm at now... trying to decide whether I give up that 1/2 or not.

no fun,

Loren

Ok just got off the phone with corey and looks like I am going to do the K2, throttle body, lsd, and ic mod. I have to wait until mid Jan and make sure there is not alot of snow since I will drive the car to them. I am about 300 miles from them. So hopefully all will work out for the best and I will keep you posted on the tires I go with.

Wild Man! Going from stock to that.....WOW..WOW

You will love it and have the same set-up I have I have been running 275/30/19 on my AMG 19" rims which is what AMG suggests.

My gut tells me if you had a 275/30/19 tire and a 285/30/19 tires and looked at the car from the rear, it would be very hard to tell which was which.

Just contact your wheel retailer and ensure the wheels have been built with the proper specification to allow 285/30 from the onset. Its one of the things we discuss with our clients prior to starting a wheel order, helps keep things clear.

Good luck with the project, sounds like a fun one.

Tried both PS2 sizes, and I can tell you that the 275 is a better choice. The 285 rubbed one mile away from getting them put on. Changed to 275's and got it going almost 150 on the FWY and the 275's held strong with no rubbing. I don't know about you, but I would rather save my money for the tires I am going to burn up all on my own. Damn I love this car!
