Stock gasket is metal and can be cut to 76 mm opening fairly easily.

..........i have changed my stock throtle body in my G55 with the larger throtle body sold by Kleemann. This was done in combination with change of the camshafts. RWHP went from 457 to 491, reprsenting an increase of 34RWHP. I doubt that Kleemann actually manufactures a brand new throtle body. Does anyone know where the Kleemann throtle body upgrade is sourced from? Incidentally, the torque figures did not change. torque was 529 before and went to after throtle body and camsg=haft replacement. I am very happy with results, but was curious to know if the lack of change in torque numbers is common.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm understanding that if you bore the stock thottle body to 76mm you still use the stock size butterfly or do you fabricate a new one?

Heh Vadim, Thanks for blazing the trail here. I know everyone that is interested surely appreciates it.

Do you hink I would see the same results on a NA C55 engine??

thanks again

Hi guys, i'm new to the forum, and i find this a very intresting thread anyone know if this would work on a SLK55, i know the gains are small on a N/A engine, however i plan on installing a Kleemann S/C in the near future. Now my question is will it still fit ?

i have a contact in the GTA area that specializes in tuning Mercedes cars, and does custom tuning. do i need special ECU tuning for this TB mod for the extra AIR going in ?

your help will be greatly appreciated

I ordered the ported TB from Evosport. Should be shipped by middle of next week..

I am going to put it on the car and try it out.. Once they finish the SLR intercoolers, I'll pull the supercharger, install the SLR intercooler upgrade and do they maybach TB at the same time.

This way I'll get to test both and see the benefits along the way.

As always, dyno charts will follow.

Hey V, just curious.

If a tuner eventually comes out with actual engine mods for the 5.5 (higher compression pistons etc..) Would you yank it and start doing the ultimate modding? Just wondering how far the 700hp obsession will go?

Brabus bores out the V-12's. Wonder why they don't scr-ew around with the 5.5's. Sure a LOT more of them than 12's.

Someday.......

How will the SLR intercooler upgrade relate to their current cooling upgrade?

Jim, with FI I think higher compression pistons would be the last thing we wanted because any gains are going to be offset with a much greater risk of detonation. It seems to me that more serious gains would have to come from some combination of 1) more airflow with the current s/c (sounds like Evo's stage III with an even larger pulley will be one effort in that regard); 2) further improvements in engine airflow, particularly on the intake side (intake, heads, etc.); and 3) if this particular blower can't flow enough air efficiently to support 800+ crank hp, a replacement blower that can a la the Kenne Bell Autorotor replacement for the '03-'04 Cobra. Frankly, I'm still puzzled by why after 3 years some tuner hasn't figured out a way to make 800+ hp on a factory s/c'd V8 without using NO2. There may be a good reason, and I understand there are some more difficult issues presented here than were present on the s/c'd Cobra, but I don't know what the reason is.

What bugs me even more is that GTO owners can do bolt on upgrades and be almost to our level when our engines are supercharged.

Yes, all W210 E55s are 3-valve

We are about to complete 6.2L upgrade from 4.3L block, which will also work on 5.5L block. I will post the results as soon it is done.

Going to 6.2L on 55 will not add more HP, it will add more TQ. HP will be ultimately limited by kompressor size. So we will still be around 700, it just require less boost to get there vs. 5.5L.

How will the SLR intercooler upgrade relate to their current cooling upgrade?
It will be next stage for intercooling. If you do not have our Cooling Package, it will come with new intercoolers. If already have it then there will be a discount.

Just matter of time and other projects. Starting 1st of the year it will be full steam ahead.

Umm ... Vadim, are the stock crankshafts gun barreled on the rod journals? Very cool.

Are you guys expecting actual power gains with the SLR-style intercoolers, or just consistency?

This is actually a custom made, billet stroker crank. I do not think stock crank is gun drilled. I will have to confirm.

Both, less restriction and better cooling.

Vadim, thanks for the feedback. What size is the current kompressor anyway? I'm guessing around 1.8-2.0 liters? Sounds like we need someone to design an intake for our cars that will mate up with something like a 2.4 liter Autorotor.

It all depends on how much extra power it will give and the cost of the re & re of the engine.. If the power to money ratio is good I'd go for it.

I don't want to count chickens before they hatch, but I am pretty confident with all the things that are about to be released in the coming season, 700hp should be attainable.

The SLR cooling upgrade is a major one. It changes the air/water intercoolers and mounts them on top as 2 separate tanks, 2 separate pumps (if EVO decides to use separate ones), 2 separate overflow reservoirs. The compressor and the top half of the engine will have to come out of the car to do the install. I am assuming it will be a 2 day job to do the re/re.

I assume they will keep the extra heat exchanger on the front of the car for the added efficiency it brings. This should put our engine output on par with the SLR. Now, imagine adding pullies to an SLR and what do you get?? I would guess 670hp - 690hp. That's damn close to the 700hp I want..

Ted

Per my conversations with Cory, the replacement throttle bodies for our cars which they sell are nothing more than those found on the CL/SL/S65 motors... they are just plain larger than ours. At one time, for just a brief moment, they actually CAME on a couple Euro versions of the E55, then they pulled them if favor of the smaller ones. Pretty sure that's what I remember him saying. Basically, they are just different Mercedes part numbers you order... confirm with Kleeman.

Bet this shakes up this thread...
