Maybach throttle body vs bored stocker

I assume they will keep the extra heat exchanger on the front of the car for the added efficiency it brings. This should put our engine output on par with the SLR. Now, imagine adding pullies to an SLR and what do you get?? I would guess 670hp - 690hp. That's damn close to the 700hp I want..

Loren,
You are correct about this.. The TB that Kleemann is using is nothing more than a Maybach/SL600 STOCK MB throttle body. All of the V12 MB motors use the same TB (80mm I believe) and that is what Kleemann is currently using.

Basically, they are just different Mercedes part numbers you order... confirm with Kleeman.
Bet this shakes up this thread...

The lower compression on the SLR is a safety measure. It actually lowers the output assuming consistent boost level and cooling efficiency. SLR is rated at 626hp.
As far as I know people with EVO or Kleemann Stage 2/3 are running approx 590hp - 600hp. There was a Kleemann car with cams that put out 617hp. The ported TB is showing 20hp at the crank. Maybach TB is showing 30hp at the crank. That puts us at 620hp - 630hp (or 647hp in the case of the kleemann car w/cams).
MKB got 680hp out of their engine using the SLR style intercoolers.
Since we know Vadim already proved this car is starving for air, we can assume that a revised airbox with increased airflow would be good for some more ponies also. I am sure we would be at 690hp - 700hp when all is said and done.
Or, maybe it's all just wishful thinking on my part... We'll soon find out.

I am still waiting on my ported TB to be shipped from Evosport. There was a delay at their porting shop so it is taking longer than expected. The last update I received said the TB would be ready either Friday (tomorrow) or next Monday.

Ho hum....
Got an update from Evosport today..
Turns out that sometime in 2004 MB decided to change the design of the TB. The newer style TBs now have EPOXIED lower sections which make it impossible to remove the lower part of the TB to get at the throttle plate to remove it.
In 2003 and early 2004 the lower section was bolted on and made it easy to dissassemble the TB to have it ported.
They just found out after the porting shop received the new stock TB and tried to take it apart.
Looks like we will have to search for another idea. Vadim is working on something for me so I'll keep you updated once I speak with him early next week.
Isn't modding fun....

What about removing your throttle body and having it ported? If you have a 2003 E55 then it sounds like your throttle body can be ported easily. A local shop by me said it would only take a day to do it. What do you think?
