Sad Day In MD - The Beast Is SOLD!
Wanted to thank everyone over the past 2 years who helped transform my beast into a mid 11s car. This board has been so informative, you ALL have been AWESOME
As some of you know, I placed a ad to see what type of bites I would get on my Plat. Blue Kleemann Beast several weeks ago. I had a buyer call me this past weekend who owned a E55 in the past and went to a S55 and was not happy with the overall feel of the car and was looking for a E55 that was modded.
He was looking for a rare color such as Plat. Blue with all the Kleemann goodies (LSD, K2, IC mod) so he flew up to VA from Atlanta today and I picked him up at the airport. He drove my car to his VA office and then to BB&T bank and cut me a check. He is driving the car back down to Atlanta in the AM and getting his dealer to install the TB that I had lined up with Cory for my car next week.
I have a empty spot in my garage
I feel that I had found the right buyer to pay top $$$ for this car. I enjoyed it for over 2 years and met some great guys.
BTW - I sold it for less then my $84K asking price, but more then $80K. Do you guys think this was a good price? The car in 2004 was slightly under $84K before extended warranty and taxes.
The big question is what next. I saw many used SL600's (04/05) in the high $70's to mid $80's. Very tempting to get one of these and add the Kleemann touch. Any issues with the SL600's? My Service Director buddy seemed to want to steer me away from those cars.

I guess I am sad to see you sell the car.I remember meeting you at the Northeast AMG Fest in October. You had a conversation with me and my brother-in-law about the effects of radar detectors.I apologize for not remembering your name.Good luck wth whatever you get next.If you mod it like you did with the E55 I am sure you'll have another beast.

Sounds pretty good to me. What was the mileage? If you have some REAL stones, get a 600/65, Renntech or Kleemann it, and then add nitrous. You'll then have the fastest MB period!

We have something going on in common. I just sold my car as well and the buyer will be flying from AL to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I'll be greeting him at the airport and letting him take the car from there.
Congrats on the sale, and I will also like to say thanks to everyone on the board and praise the car for the past 2 years of trouble-free ownership.

This is a sad day! I can't believe you sold it. I guess I can't blame you. It looks like you got good money for it. Are you staying in the MB family or are you looking at anything? We still have to get together soon. Hope all is well and congrats on the sell, I guess?

Congrats on the sale, Spero. A TTV12 SL would be sweet. I never had any issues with my SL500, but it was just the wimpy V8.
Good luck with the next project. Sent you a PM, too.

It was Very Hard, but leaving the emotional side out of the equation it was a good business move for the amount $$$ being offered.

I never did purchase the TB and the new owner is having it installed at his dealership in Atlanta next week. They are a Kleemann dealer and one of the largest on the East Coast.
The car is going to be in good hands at a authorized Kleemann MB dealer!

Out Of Control!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess its a good business move. You had one of the nicest E55's I have ever seen. Even if you do decide to go with another make (other than MB) you should still hang out with us MB guys. Get the 600 and stay in the fam

Dude -you were holding the news out on me last Saturday!
J/K - I knew you were testing the waters when someone posted the Autotrader link earlier. As others have noted, mods are often best sold separately to maximize total return. However, it appears that all parties are happy and benefitted from the deal - great that it could happen so quickly!
Hey, you might even get the chance to renew acquaintences with the blue beast on one of your trips down here (new owner willing). BTW, hope the new owner hooks up with the rest of us Atlanta AMG locals - Schiznick, Ted Baldwin, Chappy, AmenMercedesGo, etc. Always up for new fun & games, on track or off.
A "lightly experienced" SL600 is a killer idea - I've considered it more than once myself and Kleemann upgrades add some potent icing to the cake. Best of luck, regardless of which direction you choose. Looking forward to hearing about it on your next trip down!

Did you take a hit on it or were you fortunate enough to recoup all the expenses?

Spero,
Congrats on the sale. You got a great deal. I'd go with a Sl600, S600 then a Z06. If you want another animal all you have to do is spend about 1/2 as much as you did on the K2 kit on a new Z06 and you'll be trapping 130+...however it won't be AMG quality if that matters.
