If it took that long then they must've been really special wheels.

Hey 55,

You can pick these up at the Tire Rack for about $4600. These are the wheels that go on the SL/CL 65. The only difference is that the Tire Rack reccomends up front a 255/35 on the SL/CL vs the 245/35 on the E55.
The best I could get on another board was to buy the "advertised" E55 19" wheels which only come in silver and have them painted - Uhhhhh...NFW!

Still lookin' for a low miles white '03 since my deal fell through. If you see annyz in 'da big-D PM me!

I would definitely go for the ones with the factory paint. Got any idea how the overall diameters compare? Also, have they finished repairing the Oasis yet?

They offer the same wheel for the E55, just not painted anthracite. Go to the tire rack web site. The Oasis is back to "normal" for te most part. Don't really go there much. For ALOT better food and just as good views, try the Iguanna Grill, and the Cafe Bleu (North shore) Really bummed that my deal fell thru...Had a cashier's ck and took off yesterday to drive to Houston.

I am looking at the Tire Rack web site and I see the AMG wheels. Are you saying that the one's that they sell do not have the anthracite center?

The ones they sell for the E55 are silver, the SL/CL65 are Anthricite ***Same wheel**** Do a search on SL65 and compare offsets, widths.

Yeah, awesome roads here: FM620, RM2222 (infamous), Lime Creek road, FM1431. Makes me miss my 993 Turbo.

Definitely been on the first 2, not sure about 1431, though. You do have some great roads. I spent 8 years at Ft. Hood and went to Austin quite a few times.

I am checking the specs now on the wheels.

Lime Creek rd is very close to my house and is very tight and windy, and if you miss the apex....it's 200ft down the cliff into lake Travis, lots of bikes run it 1431 is the road that runs west of 183 in Cedar Park and runs all the way to Marble Falls - long steep banked sweepers and canyons. Very fast. I raced a guy on an R1 in my Boxter 3.4 (911 motor) and had that car right at the envelope....Stupid fast road.

Fast Cars!
Personally, i would go with a nice set of 20" Avus forged wheels for the E55.

It looks like Tire Rack site is down. I will continue tomorrow. I am about done for the day. I will make plans to check out those roads some weekend. Sounds like some good scenery and driving as well. Thanks for the info. Maybe someday we can hook up and go to one of the places that you mentioned.

TR is up again and so am I. Here is what I found out

E55 18"
18x8 Wheel Offset: +30mm
18x9 Wheel Offset: +39mm

E55 19"
19x8.5 Wheel Offset: +30mm
19x9.5 Wheel Offset: +31mm

SL65
19x8.5 Wheel Offset: +30mm
19x9.5 Wheel Offset: +31mm

CL65
19x8 Wheel Offset: +44mm
19x9.5 Wheel Offset: +46mm

The CL offsets have the largest difference in offset. Still, the offset of the other rears are 8mm less. I wonder if that is a problem?

Looks like the 19" SL65 Wheel (not the CL65 wheel though) with the anthricite painted centers are the same wheel as the 19" E55 wheel which is solid silver.

Correct, you are. I am just wondering if the difference in offset between the 18 and 19 (even on the E55 wheels) is a problem. I also wonder what vehicle the E55 19's are designed to go on, since there are no factory 19's available on the E55. My guess is they are for either the CLS or SL. Also, the TR site does not list any wheels for the S65.

I would really like to mount some tires and install them at a store and see how they fit before I pay for them. That is one disadvantage of buying online. Maybe TR has a store somewhere and a person could go there for the installation. Then, what to do with the current tires and wheels? I would have them ship them to my house and store them for spares, as they would not be worth much in the pre-owned market.

The saga continues. You are up early, huh?

Confirmed with Oscar at The Tire Rack (EXT#286):
The "darker center" 19" SL65 wheel is the same wheel as the silver center 19" E55 wheel with the following differences: SL wheel has a slight amount more "X factor" and back spacing for the slightly larger brake calipers on the "SL65". This is a non issue and could allow you you to use the "SL65" calipers if you wanted. Oscar said there is no group buy price, but that they could work with us on shipping for mutiple orders at the same time. Now all I need to do is to find a car..........................

E55 19X8.5 X-Factor 54mm, back spacing 5.87"
E55 19X9.5 " 60mm 6.44"

SL65 19X8.5 X-Factor 57.8mm, back spacing 5.91"
SL65 19X9.5 " 61mm, 6.46"

The CL65 wheels will not fit though. The offset is different.

Once you mount wheels you cannot return them so no shop is going to allow "wheel browsing" if you will. However, after you buy the wheels that you want, if there is a fitment issue, any reputable retailer will rectify it.

I think 4600 is alot of monetary units for non-forged wheels, especially considering almost any custom wheel can be finished in the same graphite hue as the AMG wheel.

Just my .02

Good luck overall!

I know this pic has been photoshopped (found it while browsing on here). Maybe someone else could change the color of the car to white? Regardless, multipiece AMGs in gun metal would look great with any color...especially white!!! Hope this helps with your decisions.

I agree. 4600 for stock '65 wheels is ridiculous. They are heavier than many aftermarket options (including the stock W211 AMG 18s, right?), which equates to slower acceleration (read up on unsprung weight).

The HRE C series is very nice and lightweight. The CCWs are probably the bargain performance wheels - extremely lightweight, they show off those awesome AMG brakes, they are probably one of the cheapest forged 19s out there and CCW has a great racing reputation.

Those CCWs look very cheap to me somehow. I personally would stick with the stock E55 wheels rather then swap. I still think the E55 looks great on stock wheels when lowered.

You know what they say about opinions.......My 2 cents? It would be hard to beat the look of the SL65 wheel on a W211 E55 especially a white one.

HOW 'BOUT 'DEM HORNS !!!!!!!!!!
