Paint Matching...
Okay, so I have had a horrible day. I got my new wheel in and as I was leving I forgot something so I was going to run back in to get it and went to throw it in park and it didn't go all the way and popped back in reverse...and it started rolling as I was already out of the car...I went to jump back in to stop it and the door hit the shelf in my garage with the fingers between the shelf and door. End result...

So my question to you all is...what are the chances of a body shop matching the color to the rest of the car? Any suggestions?
PS- ANY DEROGATORY COMMENTS AND FLAMMING IS NOT NEEDED AS MY DAY HAS ALREADY GONE TO THE SH*TTER.

Will the window frame ever be the same after being bent? Are you planning on a new door? Paint should be a non issue on the Alabaster White.
Sorry to see this man, you have had a hell of a couple of weeks with the E.

Looks painful to see.
I think matching the paint isn't really going to be an issue as long as you have a reputable body shop take care of it. (Preferably the dealer) My only concern would be the type of paint they'll use. Is the nano paint only available from the factory?

Agreed... paint shouldn't be a problem, but if you turn it into your insurance you need to check your policy as MOST insurance copies can and WILL use used auto parts to repair and replace items. It's called "like and kind" or something like that... not to blow my companies horn but due to value of our cars, EVERYONE should try to add OEM parts endorsement to their policy! If you need help PM me... Jerry - Farmers Insurance, Southern Calif

yea like everyone else has said, paint matching shouldnt be a problem and the only person that will notice at first glance will be you, and the people who are **** due to the orange peel effect and you might be able to tell but as long as you have a good body shop do it, you will be good to go.
sorry to hear about it too, ive done some stupid stuff with my cars too, just part of having them.

Thanks for the comments guys. My dad's buddy owns an extremely reputable body shop here and order all brand new OEM parts for me. It was around $900 for parts (door shell, glass, weather stripping and a plastic piece on the inside). And it will be around $1000 to paint. The front fender, both doors and rear fender will be painted to be sure and blend.

Depending on who's doing work, to remove all the misc pieces, prep and repair/replace door skin on damaged door, and to repaint FOUR panels, that sounds like a GREAT price... I would think they could blend the paint into the front and rear door instead of having to remove and repaint all four pieces... some where they have to start blending other wise they would be forced to repaint the entire car... well just make sure they completely remove all trim pieces and not just mask off... that is where you'd start to get into trouble!

Did you ever get the rock damage on you roof fixed? Were they able to match that paint?
White is the easiest color to match. Should be no problem. For what it's worth I've had better luck getting fixed perfectly from the dealer no matter how good the body shop is. They are more expensive but use Mercedes approved methods of repair. Standards generally are higher.
Just my 2 cents.

No, I just had the roof touched up but they are going to repaint it while it's in there too. Also, they aren't completely repainting those pieces, I found out just the door, and blending the feder and rear door. So that's better.

Sorry to read about this unfortunate incident, it sounds like the paint match shouldn't be a problem. Just try to get it fixed asap so that hopefully it will just become a memory and in the past.

Well from what MB claims their Certified program will only accept a car that has had only one body panel painted... not sure how they determine this, but I know with a paint meter you can tell thickness of paint and blended will show, but only people I know that use those meters are auction buyers, that way they can determine what has been damaged if it is not being disclosed... but then again, I almost purchased a used 2004 E55 White with over 16k in documented damage from MB but the dealer said it was only cosmetic and not to worry... well I walked... but still miss not having a WHITE one!

I hate to say it because it sounds kind of crooked, but unless a car has frame damage, the owner does not need to disclose and "lesser" damage to a buyer.
Just think, do you think you need to disclose a PDR job to a buyer? The line gets drawn at the frame damage level if I remember correctly.
