Warranty and Lowering??
Hi all,
I want to lower the E and I wondered what the "rule" is from a warranty standpoint?
Also, is the lowering a software change and will it be permanent? I don't want to get to the stealer and have them flash the car and lose any settings that i had changed.
Please advise. I want to do it, but I'm scared of MBUSA!!

Go for it!! One of the best and least intrusive mods that can be done. No issues with warranty because it is still within MBZ specs.
I believe once the settings have been saved it will not revert back to the stock height, even after an ECU flash.

Can anyone verify that it is "permanent" and tell me where I can get it done? Since it is "in spec", can i pay the stealer to do it? I know its wasted money, but they can't haggle me if they do it. Last Q. Is there any consensus on the settings that I would target for the "best" lowering?

Ride height w/ Airmatic settings??
I know its been discussed to death, but i want to hear it from the poeple whos opinion I respect.
Does the ride height change depending on the Airmatic setting? With respect to speed? Any of that?

You do not lose the ability to change the ride height via Airmatic setting after you lower your car. You can still "raise" your car. Your car will still lower a bit when you reach a certain speed on the freeway.

It is funny this came up. I picked up my 2005 E55 today and I had the tech stop the seat belt warning and signed the form that the tech's machine spit out. It just so happened that the MB rep was at the dealer today and we asked him about lowering the car via the star computer. the MB rep said "IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND NO DEALER IS GOING TO DO THAT MOD FOR YOU BECAUSE THE DEALER WILL GET REPREMANDED BY MBUSA" I did not say nothing more, since he was acting like a D$CK. I wil just leave it alone....

I'm sure the MB guy was just talking out of his a$$ and probably has not dealt with the issue before. I know that the European cars do ride a little bit lower, so if it works in Europe and Germany I can't imagine why it would be an issue. Also, each car is different and have different voltage values. My car was one that did not have as much adjustability as others, but I'm more than satisfied with the stance, as it is not too low, but just right. I never aligned my car after lowering it, since I had ordered an aftermarket wheel/tire combo and was going to wait until it arrived. Well, it arrived Friday and I am going but I will be scheduling an appointment with the dealer Monday morning for a much needed alignment. I guess I'll wait and see what they say about it.
