Just bought a 2004 E55

Car is Pewter with Charcoal interior, has 19K mls and looks like new. Maybe even better than new.
It does not have a Nav so I'll need to figure out how to get one.
Few questions:
The unit looks just like the units that do have NAV. Do I just need a software upgrade and a DVD drive in the trunk or does the unit have to be replaced? How much will it cost to get NAV functionality?
Does the car lower the suspension by itself at a certain speed or do I have to do this manually?
The car has the brown wood inside. Has anyone changed the wood trim pieces? How much are they and how difficult is it to take them out? Can they be painted?
Does anyone want to swap my brown wood parts for their black wood ones?
The car has chrome rims which I am not too fond of. Anyone want to swap for their non chrome rims?

First off, congrats on the purchase. On behalf of MBWorld, we demand pictures or we'll hold you for ransom.
Anyway, I think it takes more than a software upgrade and adding a DVD drive. I can't tell you how much it'll cost, but Steve (MBenzNL)is able to do this for you.
The car automatically lowers itself past ~80MPH (I believe). You can raise the car manually about an inch using the suspension button.
Good luck and enjoy.

Congrats, enjoy, and welcome!
Pewter/Charcoal is a nice combo.
At the bottom of the main index page is a help thread explaining how to resize pictures for upload.

well, again I just picked up my 04 CPO car with around 20k in miles with several options for around $70k... but I was offered 05's for around $75 to $78 with no options or very few options... based on that and from what ebay is getting... I would say low 70's for an 05 used with options you want... or new for mid 70's with fewer options, you need to check to see if you like the older built 05's interior (which is just like the 04 but has 200mph speedo) or the new 05's which has pedal covers 200mph speedo and a sliding center console which matches the wood interior...

You won't have to change the command unit to add nav, you just have to add nav. It is a dvd drive, but not just any dvd drive. I think it costs about $1500 installed (retail). Worth it to me, but your decision.
