Never drove either of the two listed, but I was able to take a Mosler out for a very SPIRITED drive... had a blast but weird shifting without a clutch...

I don't know, exactly, about using or applying the term exotic to them -- certainly they are exotic in the truest sense of the word in terms of comparison to other track cars or performance cars in that ($100K or less USD) price range? Way more 'exotic' than most kit cars, or replicas, or stripped-down track cars, or most performance/sports cars, certainly.
I think that if you looked at the actual number of cars in their performance category; and of their ilk in terms of power, handling, and lightweight racecar-based construction you might only find less than half-a-dozen (?)....

I'm just a bit partial...
Noble overtaking a stockcar
New turbos still running very rich...
For the HD nuts, here's a partial lap in 1080i wmv format.
Roelbing Rd in HD
Pictures may help folks decide.

Based on some basic research, I guess Noble used to be a partner at Ultima, then left. He seems to have found more success with his current situation.
I'd be curious to see how a Noble would perform using the American V8 that the Ultima uses for U.S. customers.

Ascari was his last collaboration. I heard somewhere that after just completing the A-10 for them that he was moving on to his next car -- but don't remember any mention of where that was to be, or with whom.
This guy is a designer. He works with/for or collaborates with whomever is working with him on the design of a new car. My understanding is that he makes the choice of working on what he is interested in developing - that it is always his choice when he gets involved in a car, whether it is 'his' car or someone else's.
Sometimes he'll do two cars before moving on -- but I don't realize any pattern other than that he's either British or likes working with makers that have British personnel and/or manufacturing/design facilities.
I'm planning on meeting up with him for a good chat at some point in the future...... I have admired (and hearsay has it own one or more of most of) every car that he's done or worked on.
The guy's the shiznit(!).
