Limited Slip Differential

Does the limited slip differential make a big difference when getting off the line or do the tires make more of a difference? Has anyone used the Kleemann LSD? How does it perform?

You're going to get the best performance gain by changing tires. Most of the guys running the LSD units and DR don't have any better 60' times than guys with just the DR.

What tires would you recommend? Are they much better than the factory Conti's

I'm running the Toyo RA1's. It's a drag radial compound with a stiffer sideway so you can use the tire for everyday driving. Also, you can run them on all four corners if you want.

Thanks. Did you notice a big difference in getting off the line with these tires. In addition, how do they handle in the rain. I would never drive my beast in the snow, but you never know when you will get caught in a rain storm?

They are not the best in the rain but not terrible. In warmer weather they hook just as good as a full blown dr. They weren't as good in the cold. I had a 1.67 60' with these tires and I know I can get better.

I'm so tired of all these competition tires not stretching in the 19" range. I hate the idea of getting smaller wheels just so I can have drag radials. So far, the only competition tire I've found in 19 is the Pilot Sport Cup... but only 265. I'm going to give them a try and see which hooks up better: 285/30 PS2s or 265/30 Sport Cups.

Obviously the sport cups won't last as long, but I'm really getting tired of not being able to put the power to the ground after the K2 upgrade.

Traction traction traction is EVERYTHING!!! I would love to be able to launch this monster and have it stick, just to see if this rocket would take off!!
Kinda fun to leave 2 black lines, though. I will be swapping to the PS2s as soon as I can smoke these contis off.

One of the attributes of a good drag tire is a flexible sidewall. When a car launches, the soft compound of a drag tire bites the ground and the tire reacts by the flexing (distorting) of the sidewall. This flexing is actually the storage of energy, which is then released back into the car and helps to propel it forward. As the aspect ratio is reduced (shortened sidewall), the ability to flex is diminished, as is its ability to act as a drag tire. It essentially becomes a street tire with a soft compound. While this will help some, it won't be as effective. The shorter-sidewall tires are better suited for a road course, where less flexing is desirable.
