Dear fellow E55er’s,
It seems to me that I can never drive anywhere in peace when I’m in my E. Other cars always want a piece of this grocery getter and I’m the type that would never back down. Do you guys get this same treatment? May be I need to put back my stock rims or something
Cheers!

Jay,
I agree! I think it's your rims. I suggest you go back to the stock rims so you can get some peace. I will be happy to buy your HREs to help make this changeover easier.

Personally, NOBODY has ever challenged me. Not on the streets and not really at the drags either. Around here (lower income city) not a lot of people know about the E55 and dismiss it as just another expensive sedan. The attitude is basically: it doesnt make noise it can't be fast.
When I took it to the drags people would still ask "is that a Lexus?".![wwf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/chairshot.gif)
I recently put on the Iforged 19s, so I'll report back if this changes.

a few...
i dont get challenged too often...
if you can't stand having the rims, ill take the second spot in that line!
but its probably just part of where you live+ having wheels on it..
I have mine debadged and everything else stock looking so most of the time people have no idea and its kinda nice.

Here in Pittsburgh I don't often get a challenge, but when I do it can be pretty humourous (not many hot cars here). The other day a hemi magnum (not the SRT8) started playing games off the line. I don't think he realized what he was up against (a bone stock 2003 E55). He had a shocked look on his face when he caught up to me at the next light. Same thing has happened with WRX STI's, EVO's mustangs and ordinary C5 Vettes. Sometimes I wonder if these guys know E55's or just want to see them in action. I had one guy in an EVO cut me off so he would be in front of me at the light. When the light turned green, we both nailed it. I changed lanes, passed him on the right then pulled in front of him about three car lengths in front. I quit at 70, but he went flying by. I guess he showed me. Another time a C5 vette slammed his breaks in the right lane ahead of me so he could catch me at the light. I let him take a half car lead then rolled on the gas. I walked right pass him then quit. I haven't had a serious challenge yet and I'm glad I haven't. If I did I would have to go ***** out and I don't want to run the risk of losing my license.

I wish I had your problem. We have a bunch of wimps around here.
Can you imagine having a C5 Z06 and wimping out, I've had this happen twice in the last 2 weeks! Seems like kids in ricers that are the only sporting fellows here. I even had a Passat trying to hang on to my bumper. It was useless endeavor on his part.

I agree with Justins123, its more about logistics than anything else. I drive the 405 south Sunday nights to Irvine and get challenged at least 3 times during an 80 mile stretch. They are all silly challenges too, RX8's, S2000's, 330i's, M3's, etc.

Jeez Vic you're lucky. The only time I usually pick up races is on Sepulvida at around 11pm-2am on the weekends. Everything else is fairly random. Needless to say I've had my fair share of some pretty damn good races (SC'd M3, Gallardo, Turbo S, CL 55), but I wish I had such a reliable source as yourself! Even if they are hopeless, its still fun as hell :v

Other than the occasional wave and thumbs up from people who know Benzes, nobody notices me in my E55. I rarely get any action in my Z06, other than slow cars

For the American V8 cars, most guys won't make a challenge. I guess I don't think it is because they are wimping out, I think they know that it might not be something they want to mess with. I've always had a theory that the most dangerous "street" race occurs when the cars are evenly matched. People lose track of how fast they are going in the thrill of trying to win.

Races are pretty easy to come by where I am. I went out to the illegals again last night. 2 8-second trailer cars were set to race and then the police came in and broke it up.
There were probably 40 cars there. Mine was probably in the bottom third with regards to ET...there were some mean cars...a handful of 9 and low 10 second Supras, Vettes, 911 Turbos. I asked a 9/10 supra for 12 cars and the kick and he declined.
On the street I get challenged alot...I assume others are merely benchmarking their cars....300 ZXTTs, M3s, etc. But then again I did lose to a Blown Mustang when I was stock.
You want races in the DC area...PM me.

I agree with coalman, i live in pittsburgh as well and rarely get challenged. The only cars are ricers and i barely take their bate. Anytime i see any compitition, the drivers never really wanna play. BTW, coalman, if you dont mind me asking, where are you located in pittsburgh?

Nothing here in North Jersey...the funny thing is for the first couple years I owned my old gS400, every other day I would get a challenge..half of them by females! haha Now in this thing...no challenges in a year and half of ownership.

Debadge that thing, if you really want it to mellow out!! People pull up to my side all the time looking for the kompressor decals. It is kinda funny when I spank em later. Hehe. Plus, you gotta remember the weight to be gained (or lost) by taking those badges off.
