2005 E55
Twins

I met up with Al E today. He has 2 alabaster white AMGs. One is an E55 and the other is a CLS55. I took some photos of our E's together (938 horsepower just waiting to eat asphalt). His is the one with the mods and mine is still as it was when delivered. I will take some photos of all 3 cars at a later date.

Nice! For the record, I like yours a lot better.. I just hate when people tinker with a work of art like the E55... IMHO.

Thanks. I think the only tinkering that I am going to do will be ecu, headers, pulley, cams (maybe), TB, and air box.

You think like I do on that.. I did Renntech stuff on my car, but it's all "under the hood" and the exterior, and wheels are all stock.. I don't like the look of non-OEM stuff on a car, and I hate when people take the Star off the hood

I agree that grill and those wheels make it look cheesy.

Ditto...leave them stock. I love white. I could not find a CLK55 in white when I was ready to buy mine so I had to settle for a black one.

Well I totally disagree.

The CL style grill and lowering make the car look sleeker and meaner.
They make the unmoded car look like an "old model".

to each his own.

Billy,
The pictures are great!!!
Evidently, not all "Twins" are identical. Next week lets get some pictures of the Twins and the CLS55. Wow talk about a mother lode of Alabaster White AMG55s. Will call you soon.

Both look sweet, however I like the stock one best! It is more of a wolf in sheeps clothing. Looking forward to seeing the CLS55 as well.

i favor the stock appearance as well, but lowering would be one exterior mod i'd consider.

is it just me, or does the big star on the grille have the subtle effect of pulling attention to the middle of the front end, so that the headlights look especially "cross-eyed"? to each his own, i guess.

Al,

Your car looks a ton better than stock. Also, stock tires make the car undriveable. Or at least if one wants to get even close to its potential.

What rims are those on your car? What size tires and offsets? Looks great.

I love them both! Just like kids, though, one may have long hair and the other a buzz but they are still the same on the inside. Nice jobs!

BlackBear,
Thanks for your comments. How is the CLS55 running? The wheels and tires on the E55 are:
Lowenhart LD5 Chrome 19" Wheels/Michelin PS2 Tires
Front-245/35 x 8.5
Rear-275/30 x 9.0

Billy and I are going to take some more pictures of the E55s and my wife's CLS55 soon and Billy will post them on the forum. Love the E55 but the CLS55 is really an eye catcher. The CLS is Alabster White/Charcoal with chrome factory wheels. All CLS55 come with the silver grill so had a friend paint the grill to match the exterior of the car. The Millers always add a little personal touch to their vehicles. That's what I did to my 2002 Corvette Z06.

Happy Motoring

Beautiful weather in the DFW area today so I had to wash one of the "Twins". The white rocket really looks "HOT" now. Will clean up the CLS55 hopefully tomorrow if I can rescue it from the wife.
Everybody have a good day.

Happy Motoring in your MBs

The wheels are OK, just not a style I would choose. However, I've never liked how the CL-style grilles look on the W211.

I agree

COSM first off that's an AWESOME car! and indeed a superb color! BUT and this is JMHO...

We were having a similar discussion on the W211 board a while back... the grill, hood ornament and wheels that come with the AMG or other W211's is the way to go, and anything after market just doesn't do it justice..

It's like taking a work of art like Bach's Cantata #147 and adding drums! Or Rembrandt's Selfportrait and adding Highlights like those found on a Thomas Kinkade print!

I somehow think the engineers who designed and put together this car somehow knew better than we.. but then clearly with so many members with "mods" on their cars.... I'm not in the majority in this view..
