Side window shades?
Has anyone added these to their car? I have a 2004 E55 and my son (2yrs) would like side blinds... I know they are listed on MB USA web site but is it a clean install like the factory shades?

I asked my dealer about this after I purchased our 2004 E55 last August as a pre-owned. They said it cannot be added after the fact. I'm sure it can, but it may not be an easy install which is why they wouldn't do it.

The only options my car does not have is the phone and sunshades. I pulled apart the back deck (pain in the ***) to see if the harness was present its not and looked at my neighbors E55 that has the side shades, to see what the differences are. The door panels are different and the trim on the upper part of the door is different. I'm sure it could be done but it would be very expensive and time consuming. I know some of you might be referring to the accessory side window shades that are shown on the MBUSA build your own page but my dealer couldn't find anything on them or the existence of them, so I gave up. I have to live with an almost fully loaded car. (I could care less about the phone)

I don't have a W211, but I have a sun shade for my passenger rear door. It is for my 3 year old son.
It ran about $70 at the dealer.
you clip them on to the window frame... once they are on, they are on for good, unless you want to remove them.
call you dealer to see if they have for the E

I have side rear blinds ... they are manual - but from the fitting looks like its integrated into the rear door interior panel. So to fit you probaly need to get replacement interioir door panels... that could be $$$ I dunno. Also you will need a different trim fitting around the interior window frame where the blind attaches when open.
The OEM ones work quite well and I use them often when my kid is napping in child seat.

That is what I want them for, I know the factory ones screen down into the door, and I've seen MB listing add-on parts for around $150.00 but I really want to see them in person (the aftermarket add-ons from MB) maybe I will check with my service manager.

well, they say you should open you rear windows with MB shades up... they will be sucked out the window... kind of a bummer after paying $500 for them...

LOL, I didn't mean rolling the windows down with the blinds up. It looks like the only option is for us to get the MB manual clip on ones?? I guess that's better for the suction cup style, but not by much.

2014 GL 350 on order
Owners: consider the PlatinumPlus 35% tint with life time warr. Go to Llumar's website and look at the tech data-sputtered metallic film, not dyed. I have it and its excellent. Joker

I have had a set on order for 2 months now.
I already have 10% tint. I wish my car had those on it, because the stock ones are the best. Oh well, we'll see what the MB accessories look like.

The after-market shades are actually very good and surprisingly inexpensive, especially if you are in a situation where you you don't use them on a daily basis, but primarily for extended trips.
