2009 E Class Sedan and Wagon Spy Photos
Maybe old news, but the following info is from the Auto Spies Web site.
Codenamed W212, the next-generation E-Class will arrive for the 2009 model year, with the estate version (codenamed S212) expected for 2010.
Although not much information has been offered in regards to the upcoming fifth-generation E Class, sources are speculating an increase if about 20mm in length. That, combined with a redesigned interior, will offer a more spacious feel to the passenger compartment.
An all-new instrument cluster, along with (07) S Class night-vision technology and an updated Comand system will highlight the interior changes.
Power-wise, Mercedes full-range of engines will be available ? although not all in all markets. The base powerplant will consist of four-cylinder engines with the horsepower rating starting at 175, followed by 6 and eights, diesel offerings, and, of course, AMG's version offering over 500-horsepower.
Even though it's still a few years off, the Spies are already getting bits and pieces of details on the next Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Not only will this be the first Mercedes that will mimic some queues from LEXUS but it will also sport a virtually identical dash/nav layout as the 2007 S-Class.
Night view assist and Distronic 2.0 will be available AND we're told that the next AMG model will be more differentiated (exterior AND interior)than in the past.
We hear it will surface at next year's Geneva motor show and debut as a 2009 model.

I agree that it looks like the GS. I would rather have the current headlights, but at this point I think it looks promising. I am looking forward to the S class technology.

A SL55 delivered 8/18/07, and an E55 wagon delivered 5/11/05
Ugh...the wagon looks like a cross of the ugly CLS and the really ugly R. Looks like I will be keeping my current wagon until it dies. Wolf
