DR as Daily Drivers?

Forum: as the weather litens up in Michigan I want to change to drag radials for the added traction. I had my K2 /LSD kit placed and am ready to let her flex her torque at the strip. What is the issue with using DR as daily tires? I never drive the beast in the rain,EVER and would love the traction upgrade as this thing is soooo strong now. I dont care if the tires only last 3000 miles as that is the length of summer. What is the issue with driving them at freeway/hiway speeds, is it wear or a safety/speed rating issue? Thanks in advance-Joker

I think the main problem is the sidewall. The car will probably be a little unstable, not that big of a deal. I have them on my Mustang but thats more of a cruiser than a highway car. I would consider going to an autox tire instead for the E55. Stiffer sidewall, speed rated and a lot more streetable. The car will not hook as good but it's not far off a true DR. I have them on my E55 and love them.

Definately a no no........it makes the car too unstable, not to mention being caught in the rain.Your best bet is to mount them on a seperate set of wheels.

I'm running the Toyo RA 1. Great tire for everyday use.

'03 G500, '13 G63, '17 GLS63,
I had some on my car for awhile. Didn't daily drive it, but it wasn't exactly a garage queen either. No issues, but I was always scared to drive in the rain.

2010 ZR1 2011 JGC Overland 2013 ML63 on order
Don't do the drag radials for the street.

Instead, take a look at the Toyo RA1's or Pirelli Corsas, both have drag radial compound and designed with stiff sidewalls that can be driven on the street. The Pirelli's have a wear rating of 60 which should be good for 2-3k miles. I just ordered a set from Tire Rack & they'll be here this week.

you can daily drive them as long as you have enough air in them. But if your caught in the rain its scary. My vote is no

I swear we've been talking about this one for the last two months here and there.

No. Not safe. You will get away with it until the time that you don't....

That one time that you don't? NOT worth it. IMO it is a bad idea.
