Default C6Z06 Bone Stock on Drag Radials 11.31 at 126.92
Made my inaugural passes in the C6 Z06 today at MIR in Southern Maryland. Air temperatures at race time were in the [mid-40s]; track surface temps were in the low 50s measured by my infrared laser temperature probe.
Traction was decent considering this was opening day and there wasn’t much track rubber lain down.
Here are the splits on my fifth and best pass:
60'........1.847
330'......4.930
660'......7.413 @ 99.80
1000'.....9.526
1320'...11.311 @ 126.92
DA at the time of that run was about negative 400 feet.
I have a lot of room for improvement on the 60’; need to figure out the clutch release and throttle squeeze, which are not the same as on my C5Z.
But today certainly confirmed to me that 10s are possible bone-stock with a little better track conditions and more seat time to get the launch right.
As a point of reference my C5Z06 with 363 rwhp had a best 60’-1320’ pass of 9.85. Today my C6Z06 ran that split in 9.47, and that will improve in the coming 60 days, as will the 60’ time.
My oil temps remained around 120 at the line and the water temps were 216 or above. The best pass was at a water temp of about 195.
I ran 18 psi in the BFG 345.30.18 DRs; 40 psi in the stock fronts and made first pass with a quarter tank of fuel.
Appreciated the support and kind words of a fine group of CF members who made the trip to MIR to root for the home team. Wish I could have made the 11.31 while they were still observing. And I suspect Steve Row will post up with his eye-witness account.
Best to all,
Ranger

Just running stock with 345 BF DR's on 18" CCW rims!
They told him he needs a cage next time so he may be part of the group when we rent the track.
His 60' time was 1.74. With warmer temps he should be getting 1.6/1.5 and making runs in the 10's
Just amazing that a stock Z06 and get into the 10's.
Can not wait for my 07 to arrive later this year!

Wonder how those stock half shafts are going to do with those DR's. Hopefully, GM really improved them over those in the C5Z. Guys with big power were breaking those things pretty regularly.

Hey Josh,
I talk to Chris on a regular basis and he mentioned to me that you are the new proud owner. Congrats on the new car! I have seen and driven that car on the track and you will love it
I would suggest getting the TB as your next mod.
Thanks for the kind words on the new Z, it will be BLK with the Q44 grey rims.

I can't wait to hear about, see pics, and watch video
of your new Z06. For these to run low 11's with no mods is absolutely remarkable. I'm sure you'll have yours running 10's in no time.

I feel your pain... I felt the same way when selling my car. That's why I had to replace it with another AMG/Kleemann car.
You're going to love the 997S. Don't forget to post pics and impressions about the car.
I was checking out the brake kit that Evo now has available. Expensive stuff but I'm guessing it is worth every penny. I will also talk to Cory and Brandon. Chances are that I'll just get everything done at once while at Kleemann (Cory and/or Brandon: I'm you're reading this, makes me a deal I can't refuse
).-Josh
