You are definitely correct. that is what I was trying to say, just you said it better!!

My friend with his Camaro once ran open headers. He went WOT and some kids on the sidewalk starting running. It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

I want to run open headers just for one day for kicks.

This is exactly the same argument I use to say that removing the resonator and replacing it with straight pipes helps.
i'm fully aware of the impact of exhaust tuning but i guess my misconception was that the eisenmann system WAS tuned for our cars.

I can see where you are coming from- I guess they just made it so it fit the E55 but didnt do any true performance gain testing (not that any aftermarket exhaust would provide gains). Also my car has the post cats and resonators removed so the set up is more free flowing than it should be on a stock E55. I am sure the small loss in hp would be practically zero with the other restrictors back in but then the sound would be reduced.

Sorry, didn't mean to belittle. The deal is that the AMG exhaust is exctremely efficient as is. There is no doubt that the Eisen has had ample R&D. Keep in mind that most members buy the "race" version. I have no clue what the difference in performance would be with the street version.

Agreed fully. There is no way to duplicate that sound. The loss is minimal at best. The added pars may would negate the loss, but they would also kill the sound.
I've seen many 55s with the Eis race setup and NONE sound anything like VIC55s. Hmmmm, maybe a little work on his intake side and the exhaust will begin to help??

Angela you need to get it out of your head that the differences that will affect performance. The difference is negligible at best- there seems to be a great desire to have the most powerful car on paper (via dyno) but as many of the well educated have stated, its what the car does with the horsepower on the street that counts.
Haha I guess I will have to let Mr. uneducated know. J/K I think you are the smart one going after the sound. They are going to do a custom job for me that should result in a good mean sound without loosing the 15. I agree 100% that with all of the other mods 15hp is not an issue. I am drag racing this car so it does count. I can always get it later.

Damn that sounds beautiful!!!

I ordered my Eisen a couple weeks ago for my 210 E55 and am still waiting. Has anybody heard the racing exhaust on a 210?? Does it sounds similar??

Thanks guys, I never guessed it would sound like that as it kind of was a work in progress. With the E55- just removing the resonators alone is worthless but if you take the post cats out then the sound comes alive. Then add in the Eisenmann Race and its crazy. The only thing more scary was if I had K2 which would have meant removal of the precats and that my friends would be Nascar loud IMO.

Vics...Personally I think you lost some power due to removal of Secondary CATS not Free Flowing mufflers !!!

Many respectible tuners offer Free Flowing mufflers for E55 but none of them remove Secondary CATS...your system is simply too free fliwing after primary cats...

and...Cory told ME that those things do not really affect E55 performance of E55, more restrictive part in HEADERs !!!

478 is still very good !!!

Anyways Eisenmann are the ones who make AMG exhausts, so they know everything about it and that is why their connecting pipes are smaller diameter to keep the pressure, I bet if you put secondary cats back, you will make more power...

I will have Kleemann Style headers installed with Primary cats deleted but I am thinking of keeping stock resonators or may be NOT (what do you think ???) and defenetaly will keep primary CATS for back pressure !!!

Expected numbers 450kw !!!

Thanks for all the comps... some may find it annoying but I love that sound every single day. The other day I was blazing up a toll road and some bmw caught up to me at the booth and said he was way down the road and could hear my engine.
