The way some places get a 4" rear lip in very simple terms is going with a very aggressive offset with a very thin back pad of the wheel. Again, in simple terms, this just means the face of the wheel is very close to the caliper allowing for a larger lip. If you have a 3" lip on yours, well I bet the place does not sell many HRE's for the W11 E55. I personally have never seen less then a 3.5" lip on the E55. Where did you get those from? Seems like the guys there just went VERY conservative.

I don't think you would want ANY rim with the biggest lip, as you may not like the rim style.
