Here's a photo showing the exact place where the tire rubs the fender (this is 285 on a ET33, so ET28 will be another 5mm worse off!))

I may be wrong, but I am almost certain that you will have a nice ,deep groove in your tyre wall by the time you park your car in your dacha...

I work on my cars myself and don't trust anybody, especially those who take my money, only to lose interest once things start going wrong. I drive dealers crazy, it's a desease!

You seem to be very knowledgeable regarding these CLS55 wheels. How do I fix this issue to prevent rubbing? (Raising it via Star? I dont want my bumper to fall off)...

Hmmm... If you raise it, your car will look like an SUV.
You should do the compression test before anything else and then decide.
You certainly cannot increase an offset on the wheels: even if you could machine the mounting plate 10mm, your lug bolts seat will get too thin.
I had the option of putting these wheels on my car and decided against it because of the offset. A 275/30/19 tire might help, Ihave seen other guys with these wheels on the forum. Also, a little filing of the plastic bits will help. You might just shoe-horn it in! If all that fails, or you are not up to modifying body parts, start looking for a CLS350 or CLS500 owner who wants an upgrade to a CLS55-look. Sorry!

He's right, you know. I have a couple of those slashes already.

Although I must say they look kinda cool hanging off the sidewall like that...

Does anyone know if these wheels would fit a W210 E55? That MIGHT look good...

285/30 installed with ET33...Will ask my dealer to test and see...If there is a porblem will roll my fenders...

or may I should first try ET35 or ET37...

My tuner ordered 8mm and 10mm adapters already...for ET35 and ET37...

Nice wheels!!!!! I agree remove the front grill.

I had the same problem, i took it back to the dealer and started getting pissed cuz they did it without my consent...and they filled the holes and you can't even see where they used to be...hope that helps

Yes I just had some SL55 wheels just like these on my E55 and it had a SLIGHT mark on the plastic piece where it rubbed a bit. I never heard anything and the tire had NO marks at all but yes it did indeed rub a bit. I put the car on a curb and jumped up and down in the trunk seeing how close it was at full compression and good golly it was close.

I also actually had the slightest rubbing on the very top of the fender lip but again not a sign of making or cutting on the tires but a bit of tire shine on the top most part of the lip.

I could cut down the plastic bumper lip and ever so slightly roll the fender and make it work but do I really want to do that?

So with that thought I passed up a set of un-used SL55 wheels that were such a deal at 1k with brand new P-Zero Rosso tires.

Honestly the car had less grip with those wheels and had a far worse ride than stock. Rosso's are stones compared to PS'2 and the grip was terrible. I now what to put PS'2 on my SL and see how it feels!

SO to M5 Russ yes you will risk rubbing on a 285 and the off-set will make or brake the deal... along with tire brand.

.
I bought a set of take off SL wheels and ditched the P-zero tires, which gave ZERO grip and ZERO handling. I then put on 245/275 18" PS2, which were fantastic on those 8.5" and 9.5" AMG rims. Did 8000miles and upgraded them to 19" Style IV with 255/285 PS2. I now have three sets of AMG wheels and tires, including my racing Dunlop semi-slicks....

Update...

As much as I love these wheels, I think I will need to part with them because they do RUB! Since I did the compression test as Rafal suggested and my love of driving in Sport II will NOT allow me to keep these wheels.

Anyone out there interested in them?

Take a look at the newly painted grill... The OE did NOT turn out so good, I am having it redone.

Too bad the wheels rub because they look great on the car. But like James said, the grille seems a bit out of place.
