I work on my cars myself and don't trust anybody, especially those who take my money, only to lose interest once things start going wrong. I drive dealers crazy, it's a desease!

You should do the compression test before anything else and then decide.
You certainly cannot increase an offset on the wheels: even if you could machine the mounting plate 10mm, your lug bolts seat will get too thin.
I had the option of putting these wheels on my car and decided against it because of the offset. A 275/30/19 tire might help, Ihave seen other guys with these wheels on the forum. Also, a little filing of the plastic bits will help. You might just shoe-horn it in! If all that fails, or you are not up to modifying body parts, start looking for a CLS350 or CLS500 owner who wants an upgrade to a CLS55-look. Sorry!

Although I must say they look kinda cool hanging off the sidewall like that...

Nice wheels!!!!! I agree remove the front grill.

I had the same problem, i took it back to the dealer and started getting pissed cuz they did it without my consent...and they filled the holes and you can't even see where they used to be...hope that helps

I also actually had the slightest rubbing on the very top of the fender lip but again not a sign of making or cutting on the tires but a bit of tire shine on the top most part of the lip.
I could cut down the plastic bumper lip and ever so slightly roll the fender and make it work but do I really want to do that?
So with that thought I passed up a set of un-used SL55 wheels that were such a deal at 1k with brand new P-Zero Rosso tires.
Honestly the car had less grip with those wheels and had a far worse ride than stock. Rosso's are stones compared to PS'2 and the grip was terrible. I now what to put PS'2 on my SL and see how it feels!
SO to M5 Russ yes you will risk rubbing on a 285 and the off-set will make or brake the deal... along with tire brand.

Update...
As much as I love these wheels, I think I will need to part with them because they do RUB! Since I did the compression test as Rafal suggested and my love of driving in Sport II will NOT allow me to keep these wheels.
Anyone out there interested in them?
Take a look at the newly painted grill... The OE did NOT turn out so good, I am having it redone.
