Replacement tire issue...

Any issues on putting ultra high performance summer tires on stock front rims (245/40/18) and then putting DOT approved drag radials on rear stock rims (275/35/18)? NOTE: Both sets of tires coming from the same mfg.

Haven't decided on mfg yet until I find out if there are issues with fitment and mixing two sets of tires together from the same mfg.

I am not going to upgrade to 19"s until I make a decision to keep the Beast after the lease is up (next September) and by that time these replacement tires tread would be close to replacement anyway.

The rear tread on the Conti's are almost shot...15k miles isn't too bad.

Thanks ahead of time.

Not a problem with that...I've only driven this car in the rain 5 times in nearly 2 years and even with the Conti's I knew to tread cautiously with the pedal when I happen to get caught in the rain. Thanks for the input.

You got 15k out of your rear tires?

Most of my hard driving is on the freeway, rather than hard spin outs from a stop which might contribute to the longer life of the rears.

Bit the bullet...

I went ahead an ordered new sets of tires for my stock rims:

BFGoodrich T/A KDW-2 245/40/18 (Front)
BFGoodrich T/A Drag Radials (version 1) 275/35/18 (Rear)

I ordered them from TireRack.com. The prices I checked locally (total of 5 tire shops) for the same tires could not beat TireRack and the local vendors even told me to jump on those prices because they could not match them.

They are shipping as I type. I'll update you on the fit, look, and ride...

That's the same combo I run and I love it. I have a spare pair of rear wheels for the DRs though and run the 275/35 KDWs on the street usually. They hook extremely well, even with a modded car, but the DRs are definately better.
