My 2003 SL55 engine was built by Sabato De Luca.
Here is the link to the first of 9 pages of engine builders - AMG Master Mechanics. They are arranged alphabetically by first name:
http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatel...neManOneEngine
You MAY need to be a member of AMG Private Lounge (easy to 'join'). IF the link doesn't take you directly to the plaques, then: Once you sign in and get the home page, click on 'Inside AMG' at the top of the first page, then on the drop down, click on 'company', then in the bottom of the page is a picture with 'Master Mechanics' below it. Click on that picture to bring up their plaques and their names printed below them.

I have a 2007 E63 that a bought from a local luxury car dealership here in Dallas. I didn't notice till after I bought it (not that it'd matter) but there was no little plate with the engineers name etc.. I wonder if there's a way to get a replacement?

I've heard there is no plate on the rebuilt motors. 2007 was the first year of the M156. There were some initial issues with the hardness of the cam followers if I recall correctly. You can search it on Google & on this forum.Originally Posted by Canuck11

FYI, Edmunds just mentioned this thread on their long term CL65 update: http://www.edmunds.com/mercedes-benz...e-builder.html

Thread from the dead but does anyone have any back story on AMG builder, Mirko Walch?
I hear he was brought to the M113K production line from building SLR engines to catch up on demand. Any proof to this or any other info? I have searched but can't seem to come across anything other than hear say and his plaque on AMG private lounge

He's still there building good stuff. I replaced an M159 engine in an SLS and there were none available so AMG jumped on it and made a new one and guess who it was built by? G De Giuseppe same as my E55!

My E55 has 81,000+ miles on it, and was built 10 years ago. It runs flawlessly and strongly. Thanks to AMG engine builder Peter Gerlach. I don't see his name often on these threads.

The only other person that my guy has built for j Schmidt was exotic metal and it went boom. Henmoved up the ladder for Mercedes big time. Mine runs great.

Knut Bruss built my '06 E55 AMG motor.
What is the AMG lounge and how do I get in? ETA: Never mind, just found it. Thanks for the tip, I didn't know it existed.

Found this video of a CLS55 in a Top Gear episode with the same engine builder, mentioned around 6 minutes 25 seconds.
This guy built mine as well. I had to search the AMG site to match the signature. 94k at the moment for mine. Still strong.Originally Posted by Broker

I cannot make out the sig. I'd kinda like to know if this is an AMG guy that Brabus just borrowed the sig from, of if this is a Brabus tech.
