Has anyone heard of this?
The fault was diagnosed at my workplace and then they took the car in. While talking to the technician i spoke to him about power loss after sustained hard driving (i knew fully well what the cause was but wanted his take on this). His response was that Mb and AMG are fully aware that the i/c pump and relay are a direct cause of this and that he will order me an upgraded pump and relay that improves this condition and he will have it intsalled while the car is with them. The parts and labour are fully covered under the warranty. I then asked him why Mb does not call all cars back and replace these pumps, his reply was that they will only attend to it when a customer complains about it as most customers don't even notice this issue.
When i get more details, part nos. etc i will post it here.

The frame rattles (although seems to have settled a bit now), and the picture quality is much worse than a PSP. But most importantly it really interferes with the front cabin access to rear cabin ... very annoying if you have a kid in the back.
I think a retrofit is quite a palava - and will be pretty pricy from MB I think, try after market. Do you have the Command + TV in front ?
M5 RUS, i just complained of loss of power after sustained wot blasts, they seemed to know about that problem.

Ill be back with the co's details ... mbe they know a crowd down there who does it as well...

It seems to me that MB will only change it if you complain about it.

They put in a different pump, i confirmed this afternoon. I got to talk to the technician and he confirmed that there is a different part number which he will give me tommorow. They change the relay at the same time.

The one fitted to my '06...

And then there is also this BOSCH model which looks somewhat less robust although has same basic specification, but the full performance curve is substantially worse than the 003 model.

I think my car was a Sept build, the spec was finalised towards end of July '05.

I never really noticed an issue with mine, but I am going to have the dealer swap it out when I bring my car in for the latest (brake) recall notice. That I don't have a problem now does not mean that the part won't fail during the summer. I have heard that 1 of every 5 OEM pumps is defective. Don't know if that is true, but sure is troublesome.
