NAVI in 2003 E55
I'm considering having Steve_BenzNL install a comand on his June trip in my 2003 e55 but I have heard numerous stories about this causing many electrical failures in the car overall. Have any of you gone ahead and had this install done on a 2003? and did you experience any issues? and if you come across electrical problems and take it to the dealership, will they void the warranty because they know an 03 did not come with navi and thus was done outside of factory?

I would comment that the Nav in my 06' E55 is the only thing that really has fallen short of expectations.I have been using a TomTom300 since last summer and it is so superior to the MB unit it's not even in the same league.
I was excited about the MB unit, and now that I am aware of it's many shortcomings it's totally overpriced and overated compared to the TomTom or the Garmin aftermarket units. When I have used my MB for business trips I take the TomTom and just listen to the MB stereo system.

Yeah, that is spot on. Never a complaint about the mighty Steve. His work in flawless, just the older MB Nav is kinda weak. New S Class one still is not as good as Tom Tom or Garmin, but it is better.
If you are doing this, make sure you get the unit that will allow you to watch DVD's on the fly and if you have the cash, get the TV tuner. Steve will know what you mean.
Least you can have some fun with it if you hate the NAV.
Good luck.
