E55 K2 VS M5 or M6

My car is currently at my school in Indiana...
When i get back to the States( since im out of country) , Im going to install my K2 right away...drive for 2 months and bring it back home to Jersey since the road is horrible in Indiana with rocks, bugs, and etc...
My friend just bought an M6 and he asked me to race him...
My question is who would win...
We usually do rolling start from 50~60mph.....(Sometimes from 0)

P.S: im not getting LSD....

My money is on you. The cars are quite close when the E55 is stock. I would think the K2 would eat the M5 for lunch. Let us know how it goes.

From the dig, you should make handy work of him. As he views your classic, aesthetically pleasing rear-end disappear into the horizon he will likely wonder why he purchased his Bangleized monstrosity. From a roll it will be closer but you should still come out ahead.

LSD would likely be of little help in the race you describe.

Rock,

Have you tracked your car? What's the 0-60 , 1/8 & 1/4 time?

My best is 11.89 @ 123. Plenty of guys here run mid 11s with K2. Unfortunately, I'm just not that good of a driver.

1) Race only from a dig. Everything you give him above 0 is just less room he has to make up.
2) Race him to 120mph. You should get there first from a dig. After that, pray for rain.
3) There's no way I would get anything done to the car before the LSD. You're tractionally challenged as it is and will be more so with K2. If you're going to do K2, get the LSD. If you can't get the LSD and you REALLY want to win, get some DR's for the rear tires.
4) If you get DR's, scratch the prayer for rain.

On a K2? I doubt the M6 would pull on a K2 over 120mph. Stock yes but not K2.

I've driven the M5 and my K2 E55 on identical tracks and was 13 mph faster in the M5 at the identical braking point after a 1/2 mile straight. Part of that is the higher starting speed coming off turn 9 due to better handling, but the other part is that it was faster.

M6 is faster then m5...

I think M6 if driven properly can take stock E55...but not K2...eventhought a friend of mine had raced M6 rolling start and beat it...

In 1/4 M6 beat by one hood lenght 210 E55 with Kleemann S/C which has btw 543-560 HP (diff stories)...

From 0-60 M6 is faster as a stock E55, but above the 60 the E 55 will go op the same speed until 125 and above 125 the E 55 disappear on the horizon!

The reason for that Derek is that on a circuit track after the first lap the k2 is almost worthless. Due to the fact that the iat's are at much higher levels which causes the ecu to switch to a more conservative tune.

If you were to run a stock e55 your speed after several laps would be just as fast or faster. The map the ecu uses is directly related to the intake temps.

Maybe, on which track have you experienced this?

I experienced no heat soak with the E on the track. The brakes only last 3-4 laps in the first place.

I have not run the car on a road course but can tell you from repeated spririted runs the car gets progressively slower. It starts to pull timing I have seen this on my data logger. I have a larger ic pump so I have yet to experience supercharger shut-off but it definitely gets slower. Example is my friends viper from work, from a rolling start when my car is cold i can pull on him slowly even after 120 mph but after the third or fourth race the tables turn and he begins to pull away from me. If this happens on the street it will only get worse on the road course.

I agree with you that handling has a lot to do with it but so do the iat's.

The brakes only last 3-4 laps in the first place.
Question ? When you say the brakes only last 3-4 laps do you mean they lose bite, fade or the warning lamp on the dash.

second question ? Do the new M's have a heat warning sensor on the brakes

I'm not a track guy, but I did have fun with my friends 03 Z06 that he modded a bit out on some remote roads. First 3 runs, I was constantly pulling him. Next 4 runs we were identical. After that he was starting to pull on me and my car felt stock. The supercharger wasn't cutting off, but something was definitely getting retarded / pulled.

Later that evening, back to normal. I love the K2 when its cold... but I will admit that after repeated runs it does get slower, for sure.

Yeah, Loren it's definitely in the software. None of tuners change this area of the ecu whether it's kleeman, Active or Renntech. Active is working on software that will allow them to flash the ecu live on the dyno and maybe change this part of the ecu.

A better inter-cooler would definitely help also.

Also Loren you can pm pte about the 160 thermostat that he mods to fit our cars along with the fan mod performed at the dealer. My car definitely runs a little more consistent after the thermostat install.

regards Albert
