This is old news. The cost is $9K. I wonder if this means the LSD and axles will be available in the US as a part that we can retro-fit? Any chance in hoopland that the dealer would let me pay 10K to have them add the LSD/axles to mine??

Old news?
I ordered my E63 and have never heard of the Performance package and the dealers know nothing about it either so dare I say that it is NOT old news. He may be referring to the package for the CLS. Anyway, it's good news and I will have to start looking into that. Thanks for the info.

This news is also in the July Automible mag. 0-3-0 option. Basically better brakes, 184 limiter, some other stuff that wasn't too interesting HP performance wise...$$ ranged from like $9k to 18k or so.
The 0-60 time was est. at 4.3 vs. 4.7 to the E60 M5. Thats a considerable difference if you believe the #s.

im sorry but i think its a shame.... they just making money of us.... I think its disturbing! We are buying a sports sedan and you need to buy SPORT PAKAGE for your sports sedan to be sporty.... shame on you AMG.

I agree, AMG cars should come with all performance options.... sport package on an AMG, sounds a little repetitive....

Do you see this over at BMW? Its called the M5 and thats it. No M5 sport package!
AMG cars are just being dulled down. When you have an AMG version of every car made its just getting insane. BMW stays true to the goal of the M name and skips the 7 series and the X5 being that those will never be real sports cars.
Just my take atleast. I do still like my SL55. Thats a great car.

The Automobile Mag article never directly states that there will be an 0-3-0 package for the E63. They mention something about it in the article and then direct you to another page where they give you some info about the other cars and their prices for it. Guess we'll have to wait on the info. If it is the same as the CLS55 pricing then it should be 9-10K.
Does anyone know if this makes a big difference in terms of performance and comfort for street driving? My E will never see track duty and I am getting it as a daily transport. Is that package even necessary? From a standing start it should be helpful to have LSD but most 'street encounters' are rolling. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Having driven both regular CLS55 and 030 version, I must say 030 is worth it's price.
Wider tires with limited slip allows you to put power down without ESP intervention. Off line 030 launches significantly harder that a stock car. Through corners it is easier to swing the rear out, without fearing "Yellow Triangle."
Although 186 Mph limit increase is trivial for most people, my "butt dyno" says that 030 cars are also running better software. I would not be surprised if it puts down in 450s vs 420s RWHP for stock.
In addition bigger brakes feel less grabby and more progressive.
I would not order it any other way.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. To whomever ordered one (CLS55 oe E63) without the 030, check into it. It is definitely old news and your dealer is simply avoiding the truth so that they sell what you ordered.
I heard about it at the AMG challenge from a "top" source.
One thing to consider when getting this package... brake jobs cost $5k. Make sure you want AMG to sell you all out performance before you go asking for a track whale.

I have the order sheets from MB for the E63, salesperson took them out of the binder and made copies.
The sheets I have show nothing for the 030 option. Maybe it will pop up at some point soon though.

I'd stay on top of it if I were you --
The car will go to AMG Manufaktur for the AMG mods post-build at the MBZ factory that builds the initial E-Class car (is that being done in the UK now?)....
Plenty of time to add the 030 Package mods when it arrives at AMG Manufaktur for the rest of the transformation work.
If the 030 Package being available on the E63 is as recent as I think that it is, your dealer would most likely NOT be aware or have been informed officially of its availability....
I'd advise you to follow up on this -- it is worth it.

With the 63amg having less torque, do you really think a CLS63 really needs the LSD at the launch? And since the torque comes on much smoother, maybe its not necesary unless you go to the track.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
I find it funny that people think the E63 torque is aneamic ... vs the E55 its less OK (but not even by THAT much) and the E55 is a torque monster. Against anything in its class its still ahead - by far. 465ftlb is no joke ... M5's dream of this type of grunt.
Seems AMG are trying to market their wagons like Porsche where u can get silly with performance options - even so we know the Porsches are ligitimate racers for the road or track - stock. But its still disappointing that AMG ask you to pay up to have a proper AMG ... esp when BMW dont do this, and the price is not insignificant either.

Different wheels.....don't give a crap, stock is fine.
Alcantara steering wheel........don't give a crap, stock is fine.
Brakes........mostly likely bigger rotors, caliper should still be 6 piston. Nice but whatever.
186mph top speed.........where am I going that fast on public roads?
Suspension......not sure what else they will do on top of the 07 changes (if any).
LSD.......the biggest reason to me in ordering 030 and I wouldn't pay $9k to have LSD.

Wrong....
Along with the better front brakes you get the re-tuned supension software.
Brakes, suspension, LSD, (Vmax delimit) - who cares about the rest of the goodies after that?!!!!
I will pay an extra ten grand anyday on any car to get better brakes, suspension, and an LSD.....
