Angry Can't get my badges back on right!!

This sucks. I had to take my beast in for a little paint and body work to fix the flaring fenders because of my 20's. Now I can't get the body shop to put the V8 Kompressor emblems back on straight and spaced correctly. I took it to my dealer in hopes that they would be able to match them up to another 55 on the lot. They totally f'd them up. Anybody, any suggestions? Does anybody have the exact measurements on where they go? If so I'll just do it myself.

When you buy the emblems, they come equally spaced on the backing paper, however the letters on the outside do not have the adhesive paper on the front to keep the letters in place when you apply them to the car. What I did was lie the emblem on a flat table before I removed the backing paper, used the 3M blue masking tape and applied it to the top of the emblem to keep the letters in the same place.

I then measured the exact measurements from another E55 using the edges of the fenders as a guide and also used a level to get it even. Use the 3M tape again to hold it in place to the car once you have it where you want it, then remove the backing paper and press it gently in place. After that, remove all the 3M tape and you are done.

It is a little tedious, but I feel it is the only way to insure that it is done right. The dealer had offered to do this for free, but like most dealers they are just going to stick them on and not take the time to ensure they are where they are supposed to be.

I'm going to run 20's on mine too... Were the fronts rubbing? if so what size tires did you use? I was told I can run them with no problems.

I think there should be an alignment tool available from the dealership.

I know there is one for the emblems on the trunk. Here is a part number for that: 211 589 09 23 00

This tool costs about $18.00.

So that lets me believe that there might just be one for the V8 Kompressor badge too.

It may be one of these part numbers, I'm not sure though:

211589072300
211589082300

They are both listed as templates, but they're a little too expensive I think to be badge templates.

Check with the dealer parts department. Goodluck.

20+ to list......
Forget putting the emblems back on, and get yourself a pair of "Sport" emblems from various models to get your car a stealthy & sporty look. hee hee.

I have had 2 V8k cars and both had crooked V8 Kompressor badges from the factory.

They never are 100% correct. I know 2 other owners witht he same issue. Heck on has the 8 on backwards as well...

Leave them off... Heck take the ones off the back as well. Those who know what the car is will still know and those that wont know dont need to know
