I believed you can buy Mercedes extended warranty within the 4 year/50K miles period. You can buy additional 3 years/100k miles warranty but there will be a surcharge(percentage of the price for the warranty). If I remembered this correctly, first year/no surcharge, second year/5% surcharge, third year/10% and fourth year/20%. If you want to keep the car longer and don't want to give up limbs for repair bill, then go buy the warranty. All my previous and existing Mercedes had/have Mercedes extended warranty and it functions like the original warranty, hassle-free.

Yes. You can buy different types of extended warranties. AMG and or MB makes no diff. the only thing that changes is the cost goes up as the miles pile on, kind of like life insurance.

Just buy an extended warranty from MB.. You have up until the day it expires to renew it.. That's what I am doing.. I have 6,500km left before my warranty is up..
3yrs is $4,400 CDN from what I remember.. That's what I am going to buy.

Thanks for the pics. The car is beautiful. I will be facing the same delima in a couple and a half years. I am uncertain if I am going to get the warranty. I wonder what are the chances of spending $4K on repairs. So far, mine have been minimal. If I had to pay for the light bulb and the SRS relay, I would have spent about $400.
If routine service is included, then I would get the warranty. It wouldn't be for me, I have to pay for my service. I asked the SA about services and he said that the 60,000 is a big one. The fuel filter has to be changed and that alone costs about $800. They have to remove the fuel pump (located in the fuel tank). He said the entire service is about $1,300.

Just because you have not had issues YET is no reason to think that the extended warranty may not be needed. Think of it a different way. What happens if the beast DOES break? Do you have a clue what a real repair bill is on one of these? You think a fuel pump being $800 is steep, wait until they have to replace your head!! Clearly, you have been lucky, but that is no reason to start to dare chance.

Nope. I hauled ***** to put the first 1000 on it, but I have been driving all my beaters lately. Funny thing is, I'm out of work and at home, yet I am not driving around at all.
Oh well, I think i may start driving the E more in a few weeks when i get new shoes for it.

If you're not as impulsive as I am then I would try to get the warranty. I bought mine within the first 12 months of ownership, which I thought was the only way you could purchase a MB warranty.
One more important thing. NEGOTIATE on the price. They will try to sell it at retail - get some prices. And yes the AMG cars are more expensive to warranty than the non AMG cars. I know the prices have gone up but I paid $2,500 for the 3/100, after the finance knuckle head at my dealer tried to tell me that they "had to" sell it at retail. I laughed at him and told him I can get it at any dealer. I think retail was around 3,200 or so.
Where on the Island are you? I'm in Smithtown.
