Dealer or other for alignment?
Hi all, just getting the ride back together after last weekends ride up the mountain side and was wondering what the thoughts are on the best place to have an alignment done?
By the way, I am in San Diego, so if anyone knows of daddy shop, please advise. Do i take it to the stealer or to another? Cost is not the issue (since the dealer is actually free). The problem is that they simply do what the factory specs say (with respect to target and deviation) and I did not know if that was best. I want it PRECISE!!
The car is now lowered and has different wheels and rims (although still 18s).

I always seem to be wrong so take this for what its worth.
You cant align the front end on the E55 without a special bolt kit from ole Mr Benz. Least that is what they told/sold me. It was like 200$ extra. It sounded like some MB BS line, but what could I do.
Just a quick search on the forum and other guys have been through this too.

Justs a heads up before you get it on the lift at a non stealer shop and they say they cant do it.

The only reason i even considered otherwise is because I thought I remembered other members saying that the type of instrument used at the dealers could not do a lowered car? Something about not being able to get the beam all the way accross the car or something.
I will take it to the stealer anyway, since i am having the hello service done (1-3K), but i was worried that their capability would not be good.
I have no clue about tools, but i would never take my car to a place that didn't do lots of AMGs.

Other. Simply because my dealer uses another supplier/provider to do the aligment. Alignment is a specialism. Let the dealer change spark plugs and read out the Star Dignostics, and let the wheel expert align the car. All acording to AMG specificaitons of course.

Down under dealers rarely ever do tyres and alignments etc.
I've always been to a "tyre shop" for that stuff and theres never been a problem.
My car is lowered, a bit, by washers - never any comments that they can't align it and no problems with uneven tyre wear.
I'd be interested to hear if thats not the case elsewhere.

at the dealerships where i have experience, there is usually one guy who has the specialty of alignments. you will always see the same guy doing it there because he has the training and the skill to bang out the job quickly.

It has NOT been Start lowered yet. I am working with a racing engineer here to fabricate links, but have not decided if I prefer that or a module.
Here is how the car looks nw with the 295s on the rear (et34 hehe) and stock up front. It looks waaaay better with the 275s up front, but I am getting new rims so you gots ta wait to see it.

I was his first W211. The 1st set of links he made I didn't like. Car was still a bit high. The 2nd set was right on. We lowered the rear by moving the rear sensor
I haven't had any issues with my suspension **knock on wood**.
I can PM you his info if you're interested. He lives in the Bay Area.
