Mercedes Flat Hood Emblems for E55s...
#51
Hard to tell if this is adapted from a genuine Mercedes OEM core part or not. The pictures are not well-focused, maybe on purpose. There are some Chinese knockoffs running around... However, the part (overall) is represented as OEM, and for sure it is not.

I've experimented with several of the Chinese knockoff upright stars sold on e-Bay by "HK-Plus" in Hong Kong, and the laurel wreath casting on this badge (though hard to tell) looks to be that very same part. If so, it's not an OEM Core part. But I can confirm Mercedes does not produce an OEM twist on/off flat badge.
As for the look, well, I'll thank you guys for making the favorable comparisons...

The CLS hood emblem is not the same size as the E-Class. It is the same plastic, 2.25" flat badge found on the SLK, except is sits within a divot on the hood, rather than slapped on top. It press mounts into two small holes with delrin grommets to hold it in place. It is not a twist mount.
Below is a picture of a new SLK badge (right), alongside my WHITE STAR Flat Badge (left). It's shot in sunlight, to compare how both badges pick up the light, side-by-side. Customers tell me the WHITE STAR Flat Badge shines more. I feel it definitely accentuates the White Star and the contrast in the Laurel Wreath. The SLK flt badge looks a bit pastel, in comparison. What do you think?

A member came by my home over the weekend and we installed a WHITE STAR Flat Badge on his CLK55 AMG. Here are some pictures...

Member JKA asked me to host/post his pictures for him. Look at this very clean W210... Great quality photography, too. Thanks for sharing...

Folks continue to e-mail me, asking how difficult it is to remove the upright star and install the WHITE STAR Flat Badge. So, I've compiled a sequence of photos, below.
In most cases, one can untwist the upright star with the thumb and forefinger. But in cases where the star has been on the car for years, a gentle nudge with a pair of pliers is all that is needed. Once loose, you can swap between upright and WHITE STAR Flat Badge in seconds...

Now that picture posting has been restored to the forums, I'm hoping some of you who have recently gotten badges will post pictures. There are a few colors not covered, yet, LOL!

Out Of Control!!
Maybe the other 51 would have issues, but not me. Besides, Mercedes owners should be used to mid-model-year changes by now.

The reason I bring up the AMG badge idea is that I bought this car for whats under the hood and no other reasons. My opinion's on MB's arent that great, but I am a AMG power believer. So I'd rather have an AMG badge stuck on the front then the Mercedes badge.I know I have a Mecedes,I see the sign every time I drop my car off at the dealer for repairs...

Rob's badge is a modified upright star with the center replaced with a 3-point star. I doubt he could fit a detailed AMG logo into the small space within that little hole.
