List E55 engine mods...

As what the title says. Without going "really" internal (pistons, crank shaft, rods etc..) can you guys pls list what other mods is available to our 55 engines. Here's a list of what most of us have done. Just wondering if there's anything else we can add.

1. Cams
2. 80mm Throttle Body
3. Headers & Downpipes
4. ECU
5. IC Pump
6. Port & Polish (has anyone done this? results?)

Anything else you guys can add?

i doubt there's any appreciable performance gain but i'm really interested in how you like your car with the resonators removed. how much is the sound quality improved compared to any cabin drone? this seems like the easiest way to improve the tone if it's not too bad in the cabin (actually, i wouldn't mind open headers but the wife and neighbors might get a little annoyed!).

Actually, there are VERY slight gains in responsiveness at the low end.

The sound is the major love. I replaced mine with two straight pipes, so it is actually two mods in one. Low rumble is increased just a tad. Also, the stainless sound comes through much better, with a slight pop to the gas. For $100, it is a no brainer mod to me, especially considering how well the AMG pipes works as is. The last part I like is the dual pipes. It gives it the old V8 thud thud sound while idleing, and I love it.

Interior drone is only BARELY more. You can tune it in and out depending on hwere you put the tips. Mine are in the exact stock spot, but you could push them out for a VERY quiet ride.

DO IT DO IT!!

No, I like the left / right sound, so I left it open. ALso, that connection can act as a resonator and i wanted max noise. It is EXTREMELY subtle.

20+ to list......
Light mods would be ECU upgrade, full exhaust, and custom intakes with cone filters.

I'm planning on testing that on the dyno in a couple weeks when I go back. Figured a 90* piece of silicone tubing with a big K&N cone on it straight to the TB would pretty much determine how much (if any) gain there is to be had in the airbox/intake tract. I was going to test it with the hood open on the dyno just pointing straight up. Not terribly useful for daily-driving, but it should pretty effectively show what the stock airbox leaves on the table.

It looks like I will be doing a stage 2 pretty soon, along with an LSD, and rotors. Still stuck between K2 and Evo2. Such decisions....

Very nice numbers. Have you run against any W211 K2s? I'd be curious how different, if at all they are out of the dig and up at speed.
